L&K Alloys

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking to buy an octavia and have just been to view a L&K edition, all of the alloys were very badly corroded, is this the norm with these wheels or does it point to poor ownership/ cant be bothered to clean it? The car was a 02 plate with very low miles and full history and drove very nice, also in addition to the alloys the seatbelts were very grubby, the drivers one almost black! Thought I would check with you chaps before I went any further.

In my opinion the Skoda Alloys aren't great even if they have been looked after. I owned my vrs from 18month to 3 1/2 years and they were starting to bobble when I sold it, my current octi elegance wheels are in much better condition but then I've protected them whith wheel polish and as such seem to be lasting much better. Are the wheels Curbed? if they are then the tracking could need looking at.

Don't be too put off if the wheels aren't in perfect condition, you could always buy some summer wheels and keep your L&K wheels for winter use.

i got an L&K with 100k miles couple of weeks back.

i had a slow puncture on one wheel from interior corrosion of the alloy. the tyre place just scrubbed the inside of the wheel with a wire brush, put some bead sealing on it and 2 weeks later the tyre is still fine! :)

so i would conclude that yes the wheels corrode!

my tan coloured interior also has grubby seat belts, i made a thread the other day about how to remove them to clean but no-one responded sadly.

can probably just clean them in situ with some decent wet wipes or something

put some polish on the wheels, like collonite 476 (£10 for a large tub) and that will last 6 months :)

Thanks for the replies, looks like its the norm for the couple of potential problems i found.

I've only ever seen a couple of L&Ks, but lots of Elegance and Audis with the silver 5-spokes. None of them had significant visible corrosion (looks like sugar or salt crystals).

I almost bought an L&K estate once. The seatbelts and seats were really grubby on that one too.

The one your looking at isn't in Salisbury is it?
