What head unit is fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me the make and model of the fabia head unit.I'm getting my vrs thursday and I'm looking for an autochanger to fit to the original head unit! Thanx

I believe it's a Symphony single-CD unit - options for an autochanger would be the approved Skoda one, or to pay out about

Should be getting my Fabia vRS in early September, was thinking of replacing the Skoda Symphony head-unit. Not sure which unit yet. Some folks seem to suggest that it's not too bad as a basic head-unit goes. Others seem to be saying it's pretty naff - any comments. Some speaker work may also be necessary, especially in the rear.

The speaker enclosures in the Octy are pretty pants - so combined with a naff weedy head unit, it doesn't sound that great.

In the Fabia and Superb, the speaker enclosures are a bit better, so the sound quality isn't so bad. However, as the market for a compatible-with-standard autochanger is fairly small, for less money you could get a non-compatible autochanger and a head unit for it which is much better quality than the standard one.

I'm getting an Alpine CHM-s630 changer plus interface adaptor, 'cos I don't want to swap the stock Symphony head unit (I'm more bothered about security than ultimate sound quality).

I think it sound fine, and the volume on/off button is a great design ergonomically.

Note, however, that the treble and bass settings for front slot CD, autochanger CDs, FM radio and AM radio (MW/LW) are all independent of one another.

IMHO this confuses as you get it set up OK for, say, the slot CD playback and then wonder why it sounds naff with the autochanger. It's a good idea though as you want it set differently for AM radio five to FM etc

The speakers in the Fabia are not too bad at all, and too be honest I didn't think the standard HU was too bad either. I was going to get the Skoda changer which IIRC was about
