Rear Aero wiper question.

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm currently an active paid member of FFOC :: Ford Focus Owners Club, a ford focus forum, which i'm sure many of you have heard of before.

Me and a few other members are looking to try to mod a rear aero wiper onto the rear of a Mk2 ford focus hatchback, but the options for us are limited.

We could use one of the seat leon wipers, but they need a LOT of modding to get it to fit the focus, not to mention glassing the cap for the pivot nut to flush it of, due to them having the washers in the pivot.

Another member posted this picture the other day;

Now it strikes me that that has a nice flush pivot cap, so my question is this.

Is this a genuine Skoda wiper does you guys reckon? If so, and if anyone else has the same wiper, can someone please measure the pivot to tip of the blade length please? Also, any part numbers would be great.

Thanks :)

Yes, the aero wiper is standard on the Octavia. Mine's an estate so it's probably a different length. Have a look on the wiperblades.co.uk website to see what sizes are available. The cap is part of the blade and just clips into the arm.

Alternatively, trade in the Focus for a complete Octavia:rolleyes:

Hi Anto164

Yes Thats Standard Fit on The Hatchback And It's 540mm From The Centre Of The Pivot Point To The end Of The Blade. The Blade Itself Is 415mm or 16" In Old Money .

Craig.......

A Vectra rear wiper os pretty much identical to the Octavia one - same length and all. Might be cheaper, Vauxhall parts are often quite cheap.

Thanks everyone for your input.

The octavia/vectra wiper does actually seem a bit too long, as it's about 80mm longer than needed.

I may just get the passat one, and a longer wiper blade, as the focus takes 14" blade on the rear.

And can that flush cap be bought seperate?

The number about came with clips etc all attached, ready to be fitted direct to the arm.

Only the Front refill blades come with the end caps seperatly.

Maybe post in the Fabia section mate, a popular mod on Fabia vRS's is to change the "non" aero rear for a rear wiper from a Polo, I don't have ETKA with me at the moment or I could give you a part number.

I think it is shorter than the Octy rear iirc but the same design

Just a puzzling question, why not get a focus one???? they have them fitted.

Go to a scrappy and swap the rear hatch with them, you may even be luck and get the same colour

The Ford focus doesn't come with an aero wiper, just the ordinary metally/plasticy wiper on the rear. The fronts, yes , they have the aero wipers fitted as standard on all models.

There is not one avaliable from fords, and it's not an accessory avaliable, that's why me, and a few other people are looking at modding the VAG blades. There is however, a new mondeo version, but that is really quite long, as the rear of the new mondeo is rather wide.

I may post in the fabia section also, as they have a smaller wiper blade, but this may be a little too small for the rear of the focus.

For the price of it though, it may be worth a punt, it's only a few quid.

Would the fabia wiper take a larger wiper blade would anyone know? Say i fitted the blade, and wanted a longer reach, could i fit one with no problem?

Cheers for the replys so far, they've all been helpful :)

Polo rear aero wiper?

What about just getting a retrofit aero blade?

No can do with the retro fit aero blade, there is no hook fitment on the rear arm, it's a fully plastic clip in jobby..
