Warning light on Dash - Exhaust??

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, I have a warning light on the dash thats come on this afternoon, the manual says its control system for exhaust. :(:(

Anyone have any ideas what this could be? I have driven it out and the car seems fine.

Any thoughts or help would be great.

Thanks!

Have you had the ECU read for fault codes?

No not been in to the garage yet. Just wondering if anyone had come across this or had any thoughts?

Well there is ECU fault code reading, and then there's having a guess :D

If I had to guess, I would say MAF unit. Thats's why I carry a simple £39 Gendan FCR with me in the glovebox. "Hello AA, I have fault code XYZ on a Fabia VRS, make sure your tech has a XYZ sensor with him."

Seriously, very hard to pin a dash light down without reading for fault codes.

Cheers

Or find a friendly member nearby who has VAG-COM and bride them with beer... :D

Have a look in the VAG-COM section for a list of members willing to help.

Post highjack!!

Hum, I've just finally upgraded my VAG-COM to the HEX-USB+CAN one, but I'd still like to have a sort of VAG-COM "light" just to have in the glove box - for these on-the-road problems, so might look into Gendan FCR - which one did you get?

Might be a faulty EGR valve.

The one on my car went and put this yellow light on.

Is this anything major? Can I safely drive the car for a few days?

We dont know if its anything major, its just telling you it is a fault.

But as a rule, amber light - Get to a dealer asap.

red light - STOP NOW!

Get it scanned, will only take 2 minutes of a fellow briskodians time

I was referring to IF it was the EGR valve problem.

EGR valve aint really a problem......alot of us on here run WITHOUT one (fair enough there's a constant CEL light on)

Not really. Most of it is to do with emission standards. The manufacturers didn't really have much choice. Still a pain though, so I understand what your saying.

Oh isnt that handy?

Took it to dealers today, they said that my glow plug number 4 has gone! They have ordered a new one for me. Its under warrenty so I don't have to pay but how much would this norm cost and is it major?

Glow plugs are about £20 + Labour. Not serious at all. They live in a very harsh environment and get extremely hot.

Might be hard to start if it's a really cold day, but wont do any damage. Surprised they don't have them in stock though!

Nice one cool. It took a couple of trys to start this morning but i assumed it was because it was freezing.

Do you know how long they take to fit? Dealer said a few hours but I thought that seemed a bit long?
