Apr Ko4 Upgrade

Featured Replies

I Was At Awesome Gti The Other Day And Speaking To Jim Cotton About The Apr Stage Iii Upgrade With Roller Bearing Turbo. Apparantly They Are Having A Few Problems With Fitment, As They Are Designed For Left Hand Drive Cars. It Could Take Six Months To Sort Apparantly. It Was At This Point Jim Mentioned The Ko4 Upgrade They Do.

erm.. i think awesome are more than familiar with the k04 equipped octy....

as their demo TT learnt the hard way on the national day!:D

Awesome set mine up using the APR software... i can only recommend!

....and unfortunately the 6 months quoted for the stage 3 was quoted to me, oh, about 6 months ago and 6 months before that!

not slagging them off at all as i like them a lot, but the stage 3 is one of those 'wait and hope' things that never seem to quite materialize.

Surely you might aswell pay that bit extra for the IHI, surely you get more bhp for your moneys worth.

Apparently there are 2 KO4 turbos...the one that fits directly to the manifold and the bigger one from the TT.

Your not wrong Adrian.

Pauls K04 does add, how much? Enough for the ass dyno to know it pulls away from mine.

Not everyone is capable of handling 300+ through the fronts, not even mentioning the car...so if your looking past 280 to 350 you'll also be looking for IMHO, clutch, gearbox, FMIC and LSD and a very very accurate right foot.

First four are in the budget, the last...well we'll have to see.

The K04 is an semi invisible modification. Integrates well with present DP etc.

So paying a little extra is actually the thick end of 3k+ Not that I've priced any of the abve options ;)

Colin,

which Ko4 did Paul have fitted?

But the extra wear and tear on pauls car is partially offset by the fact it weighs naff all :)

that would be telling....:D

ihi gives more than a k04 but less than a GT28RS...

we all know what i can manage to do to the gearbox without the K04 on so am sure you can figure out what happens to the weedy fwd box with a bigger turbo..

unless you plan to do track work and expect to change boxes every so often i would not recommend going much beyond a chip and some bolt ons.

The Apr Ko4 Is Apparantly A Ko3s, Which Is Modified Internally. Its A Straight Bolt On And Should Be Undetectable.

Eurospec Do An E-05 Which Is The Same Turbo With An Even Bigger Exhaust Wheel. Good For 280 Bhp And 315 Lb/ft. You Need In All The Other Bits Though Fmic, Mapping Etc, So It Could Prove Expensive.

I Went To Jbs Auto And Had A Go In Their Skoda Rs With The Quaife Diff. The Diff Was Impressive, Lots Of Traction And Gave Confidence On The Bends. Whilst There, They Were Fitting A Jabba Turbo To A Golf. I Was Told They Would Be Offering The Fitting Service In A Couple Of Months. It Maybe Worth Considering As Jabba Have A Waiting List Of 40 People And They Are Still Reluctant To Start Fitting Due To The Down Pipe Not Being Ready.

Not that I would condon such behavior but if you're really serious about a turbo upgrade speak to Mike at Impossible Performance on 01634 710777.

The rest are in the chasing pack TBH.

Without wishing to say that the K03s doesn't exist, I thought there was the K03, the K04, and what people are calling the K03s which is a K03 with K04 internals. The power deliverable is incremental, K03 - 'K03s' - K04.

Or so I have been lead to believe.

I wonder whose golf that is then :D

I wonder whose golf that is then :D

I was wondering that too ;)

I wasn't planning on posting in this thread either as I'm not getting into the K04/K03s debate again.

Do you know the boost levels of APR K04 kit??

I mean overboost (at what revs?) and further on ??

Any dyno pic done in UK maybe???

Last ...

Have you ever heard about the following turbo??

K04-093 TTS hybrid (KKK)??

It is suppose to be K04-20 or 23 internals (the good K04 from S3, TT225) but fitted in a normal K04-001/K03s shell both turbine / compressor.

So it's a bolt on unit to all of us 150/180 transversal 1.8T.

Do you think that APRs unit is something similar???
