Code for Skoda Stream Hi Fi unit

Featured Replies

Hi folks......

I am researching the replacement of my Skoda Stream Hi Fi unit (year 2005 A5 car)with a view to replacing it with a sat nav unit. The question is - Once I have disconnected the original Stream unit will I need a code when I eventually replace it to make it operate again and if I do, how do I know what it is in the first place. It's all connected up at the mo so is there a sequence of buttons I press to discover the code?

Thanks etc

Tom

If you are fitting an aftermarket headunit, and not a VW/Skoda one then the code will not be a problem. The streams code is stored in the ECU, so when power is reconnected the the ECU will send the code to the radio. You will have a problem if you use a VW/Skoda HU because the new radio code will overwrite the stream one.

Didn't happened when I took my MFD2 out and put the Stream back in.

I think the ECU remembers all head unts it has seen.

Even if things get messed up you can always get the 'code' from Skoda UK, via your dealer, by quoting the VIN/Reg number of your car together with the Serial number of the Stream unit. They check these match and give you the code.

I did this when I sold my Stream unit to someone else, gave them the relevant info, they spoke to their dealer and got it matched; new code issued.

Good luck with the installation.
