Good Price for a petrol MK2 VRS?

Featured Replies

Hoping for some advice on a purchase of an ex-demo petrol MK2 VRS 08 plate with 7000 miles on the clock.

I'm about to buy 8 month old VRS for around £14700, which sounds like a lot, but it does come with not only the standard spec, but all the extras too, see below

Columbus Sat Nav, Maxidot, cruise, dual climate control, jumbo box, ipod connection, rear elec. windows, 18" alloys, light assist, rain sensor, auto-dimming rear view mirror, bi-xenon lights and headlamp wash, OEM bluetooth, curtain airbags and rear sunblind

given the recent Skoda UK VAT changes on new Octavias, the impending facelift Octavia and the general car market conditions, what do people think about the price as I'm not sure that it's such a good deal after all?

any thoughts on the price or advice would be appreciated...

Well after a quick check on autotrader website there is an 08 for £10,990 just under 6,000 miles,Not all the same bells and whistles but a very cheap car for an 08,Then the next 08 down the page is £12,490 with 2,495 miles on it. Both cars from main Skoda dealers in the UK so i would say keep looking.

£14k is miles too much for a 2.0TFSI I'm afraid. If you have a search on here you will see just how little people were being paid come trade in time on relatively new cars.

I agree... The current economic climate is bad news for the petrol vRS... Unless you happen to be buying one!

Just to give you an idea, I bought mine privately last week - 07 reg, 11k on the clock, only got cruise and the 18" alloys - for £8300.

Obviously no dealer warranty etc. but well worth a shop around.

no but your 07 reg will has the remainder of the manufacturers warranty left.

It's 2 years unlimited miles and a 3rd year up to 60k total mileage for uk sourced cars.

Blimey, the market really has gone sour! Cracking price

And see Mark's comment on the warranty

Not half! Just had a scan of 'Trader!

Seems I made the right choice last year anyway... :D

Interesting to hear about the warranty.

I had a pamphlet with all the gubbins I got with the car (I'm sure I've seen a scan of it on these forums somewhere but I can't seem to find it now) which I only skip read, but came away with the impression that it was covered for 2 years by Skoda and a further year if it was brought from an approved dealer.

As mine was private I thought the latter didn't count but presumably this is referring to the original dealer the car was brought from?

Good news though thanks for pointing this out.

Prices are going through the floor - took three months to sell my VRS estate and eventually got it away last week- June 06, 50k and mint - £6400.00!!!!!

Timmy Boy was yours a hatch or estate?

A new shape vRS Estate you sold for £6.4k?

That sounds very cheap, where you in a rush and it was the first offer you had on the car?

Ws not totally desperate to change but having only had two enquiries in three months decided to let go before things soften further.

I'm buying a brand new VRs TDi for £1k more than that. It's standard spec though with just the upgrade pack.

It's a buyers market at the moment and with the facelift due next year now is a great time to buy.

It would be worth you ringing round a number of dealers to get their best price on a new one and if there's one already built and in the country (i.e. not a factory order) you will get a good discount.

For the money you're talking I reckon you could get a brand new one but not with all those options.

I suggest talking to Simpsons Skoda in Preston and Silbury Skoda in Cramlington (Newcastle) for getting a price - they are both very good.

Private.

Finally got to drive the thing today now my new oil filler cap has arrived :)

Top Tip - always put your oil filler cap back on before driving away.
