I'd guess at double the price. ;)

yeah thats sounds pretty much about right 1400 ish incl vat for awesome gti big brake version,

i was wondering, considering im not necessarily pushing the brakes that hard really, and ive not found them lacking in any way, maybe just swapping them for uprated discs and pads, with braided hoses, would that not have a massive result also, but for a much more reasonable price,

the question is,

what discs and pads, cos most sites ive seen dont have drilled or grooved discs for the octavia mk2(i might be wrong there) so on that case can we use Seat Leon discs or Audi S3 discs or VW Golf mk5 discs without changing any calipers or carriers, just pads and discs only

had a look on there, site seems quite good, but its the same old story for brakes, no discs or pads for the vrs mk2. i'd love a set of drilled discs or grooved even, not only to uprate the brakes, but for the asthetics as well. jkm have they're own manufactured discs but the big ones like ap racing, tarox and brembo, there is no luck. but if you look for 2.0T seat leons golf gtis, or audi a3, there are loads of options, hence id love to know if they are interchangeable,

Are you looking for different disc/pad options for these 345s or for the standard 312s?

Either way, you can use options from other similar vehicles (S3/Leon Mk2/Mk5 Golf etc).

in 2 minds really mate, like i said, i do the occasional track and thrash but with the exception of 1 occasion the brakes have never been pushed past the limits, im thinking just uprating the discs, pads, hoses, and brake fluid would be the better option for my use. what do you reckon, any particular manufacturees you reccommend or would advise against

sy

Just get some decent discs and pads into the 312's.

Awesome had an offer on their discs and pads which are apparently good.

For track use I'd say DS2500 pads, whatever discs you find, OEM would be fine and brake fluid, well halfords DOT5.1 would probably do just fine. You just want a brake fluid with a good dry boiling temp and also a good wet boiling temp.

Some people will slate EBC, I'd say avoid the greenstuff, the redstuff ceramic are just fine for fast road use and a bit more and the yellow are fine for tracks. Their discs are apparently good value and good discs.

thast starting to sound like an option i think mate, the wifes going nuts as it is, im on a spending spree and i put it down to this forum-Tooooo much info to here about, lol. so ferrodo ds2500 pads and some discs would be fine, ill get searching online and see what i can fin now then, just not tell the wife and get them delievered into work.

thanks very much mate

I use DS2500 pads, standard 312mm EBC discs and Castrol 5.1 fluid. And I'd use the same setup again :)

Would like some Tarox G88 discs really, but find it difficult to justify the price hike. And I'd consider Tarox Strada pads as well, but the Ferodos are fantasic and worth the extra pennies over OEM (around £100).

guessing that is on the furby you have there, not that it makes much difference, im looking round for cheapish grooved or drilled discs, but im willing to pay for the quality in pads, but wary of buying to cheap in case i warp them, lol. got a few trips to the nurburg ring planned:D:D:D:D

Yes, I run a 312mm brake upgrade setup on the Fabia. Same as the Mk1 Octy vRS, TT etc.

If I was planning some serious use, like the ring, I'd go G88s and Stradas or DS2500s.

looing at JKM own version of disc at moment, looks like good value, and since they seem to specialise in Vag vehicles cant be that bad, and ds2500 ill call tomorrow morning about them i think

thanks alot for your help mate, then all i have to do is make fot the brakes, and make the 4 and half hour trip to the ring-

They're spot-on at JKM, you'll have no problems there and many happy customers on here

They fitted my wonderful suspension, for a start :D

they have the most informative website by a long way i think. think ill go through them to be honest.

im tempted with suspension on mine, but i like the ride comfort on mine and im not sure if the ride would suffer too much for the sake of handing which to be fair, she handles well anyway, im thinking maybe just the anti roll abars and poly bushes might work out a treat cos i thnk she does roll a bit more than my mates gti, wot do u reckon

My knowledge of the Mk2 vRS isn't that great, so probably best to have a look through the Octy 2 section. But I know people are generally quite happy with the ride and compliance of the OEM setup. I know people who have fitted Eibachs and Koni FSD dampers (like I have on the Fabia) as well as varying types of coilovers.

If it were my Octy2, I'd more than likely go the Eibach/Koni route again

On the other bits - a rear ARB and some uprated bushes and you won't go far wrong :)

thankas for the help there mate, i think id better hit the pit now, especially as im working in germnay which is an hour ahead of you now, and i have to be up in 5 hours(not good). thats the prob with this site, its addictive and costly, there should be some sort off compensation for using this site, or perhaps a warning---WARNING- YOU'LL BE SKINT AND ADDICTED IN DAYS-

infact one more question, im ordering a set of JKM front brakes today, hopefully with some ferrodo ds2500 pads as well, and going to leave the original discs at the back, would you reccomend getttting the ds2500 pads for the back as well, since octy supposably has brakes biased 85-90 percent to the front, should i buy a cheaper pair maybe if they are not really going to take the stick that the front set does

I wouldn't bother with altering the rear brake setup personally. As you say, you've got the bias information there and that tells you all you need to know :)

I'm just about to fit some fresh std discs and pads to mine in fact.

just waiting on jkm getting back to me now, merry xmas to me, thats what i say to that

  • Author

aaahhhhh:mad:

how gutting is that, already ordered the brakes for her

If you look on the 312mm conversion thread for the octy II you will see who makes the JKM brakes and the details listed on there but like i said above i'd have just gone for better discs/pads on the 312mm before splashing money on a larger set up.

  • Author

i have new brakes on order now though. just went for the discs and pads as a cheap option for the time being.

zero sixty grooved and dimpled discs with tarox strada pads- anybody used these if not, ill let every one know how they ar e, when i fit them in the new year. they'll be getting the good news round the nurburg ring in the new year , as long as the snow holds off.

still once they need replacing i am defo looking into uprating to 345mm r32setup, as i plan on hiking power upto around 260-280bhp eventually.
