gave her another coat on the front end today and used 3 cans of tesco upolstry spray on the carpets lol.

looks and smells nice again.

Hey that is looking sweet. Sitting sweet as well with those Weitecs. I am chuffed with mine.

I gave mine a clean and was about to wax today, but the family chores had me calling. I spilt a cup of coffee in the front yesterday and with 4 kids the inside looks like a tramp resting place.

ell after all the good times with my octy, lots of mods then stripping her for parts, I have finally got the car of my dreams and she doesnt dissapoint at all.

Need I say, I am so glad I chose to strip my octy and use the funds to get one of these.  If you have never driven one I would highly recommend you do. It is one of the best all round cars Ive ever knows.

Once I get used to the car a bit more and I have funds, Ill be doing the following:

 

Full Facelift Front and rear lights

Mk4 Sat Nav with widescreen.

Facelift Steering wheel and airbag

Having some back boxes put in to the muffler delete to stop the drone while cruising.

 

will try get some sound clips up when I get to go through the tunnels lol.

Does it have the optional indicators?

Should also have the motorway magnet bumper control on it too (thats standard)

Yea mine has the optional indicators, I drive her like I do all cars and lorries lol.  Mainly to try and put faith back in BMWs, some of us are good polite drivers hehe

 

My bumper magnet control must be on the blink too,  will have to speak to BMW about that.

 

 

 

Manual billy? What's it like on fuel?

I've been hankering after a 540i manual e39 as a daily/drifter

 

Yea Si its a manual, the E39 only came in manual, a proper gearbox.

 

Trying to find a 540i Manual is like flying pigs, there isn't many, and them that are are all old, pre 1999/8 and all on sky high miles. plus they only had like 280 ish bhp and the mpg isn't much better.  But on the plus side you don't get the problems the M5 gets with VANOS and bearing shells spinning as much.  All the 540's I looked at that were recent ones were all auto. same as the 530d sports as I was going to sell the fabia and just get a 530d but again all shuttle mileage and mostly autos, also the E39 suffers badly with rust which all had.  I was just lucky to find this one close with pretty much no rust on it, there is a  few very small areas that need attention tho which will be sorted asap. I see this as more an investment really. or at least something I wont loose on other than maintenance and servicing/running costs provided its kept mint lol. 

 

Fuel wise, I got 25.3 mpg on the way down to cornwall at the weekend cruising at "70" lol and 27.1 on the way back cruising more like 65.  while driving around t=down there it managed 21 ish.  will be off out with the wife next weekend around the welsh countryside so will see what she returns then lol ;-)

Cheers, I know its one hell of a machine, I keep having to pinch myself as I cant believe its been over 2 years since I started looking and now I finally have one. Never thought Ide own one of these AWESOME machines.

 

the sound and power is just intoxicating, sod going out getting drunk or doing drugs or pulling birds, this is it for me. the wife has warned me what she would do if I had an affair lol, think Ide best keep this a secret or I might loose something.

 

Give me the smell of petrol and tyres and the sound of a nice smooth engine any day lol.     :p

And so it starts,

 

Here is just a few bits Ive got from the dealer to sort my E39 M5.

 

We have here:

 

 

2x Intake cam sensors

2x Outlet cam sensors

Thermostat

Temp switch/sensor

all new seals and gaskets

coolant

 

Gearbox output seals

Drive shaft damper

Centre bearing

Diff input and output seals

Diff oil

Diff bushes

all new nuts and bolts

 

nice list of things to sort out seen as the input seal is leaking.

 

 

These are expensive cars, but omg the few times Ive been out in her its worth it. 

only one sensore has gone but seen as I am there and all the sensors are 14 years old I thought Ide best do them all.
