pale blue / turquoise front badge?

Featured Replies

the front badge on my L&K TDi has some lacquer peeling so water is getting in it, and its bubbling a bit etc

i want to replace it, but it doesn't seem to be the skoda green at all, more like pale blue or pale turquoise. the rear is similar too.

they look good like that because the car is the blue/grey colour, so it fits.

green ones or black ones would look bad i think :(

were pale blue ones an option, anyone got a part number or know where to get them ?

thanks!

The turquoise happens when water gets in - mine is exactly the same. Budget about £11 for replacements, but unfortunately they'll be green :) I did see some silver/black ones once but I think they may have been a custom job.

lame! will have to leave it like that then to keep the turquoise!

the black ones were a vinyl sticker stuck ontop of a standard green badge. i researched that a bit, but i think they only look good on black cars not my blue/grey colour :(

might try to find an old second hand which has faded but has intact lacquer and no bubbling.

From what I gather the colour only results from the lacquer becoming porous in the first place, and the bubbles are a sign of that. I'm not sure if it'd be possible to catch one halfway, so to speak, and then seal it to stop any further damage.

I haven't looked closely, but would it be possible to strip the lacquer and refinish them yourself?

Either replace them with the originals or go down the gel dome route. I got carbon fibre ones (with the vRS) logo) to replace both the front and rear badges.

If you like the colour, but not the bubbling, try taking one of the badges to a decent model shop or 2, and see if they have an enamel paint that's a decent match. If they do, strip the bubbled paint, and repaint with the stuff you just bought.

not bad ideas there guys, thanks :)

If your badge is anything like mine, it would sit between colours 'clear blue' and 'pearl green' (both bottom right) on the middle chart below:

yep that looks like the colour.

could i get a product to strip the lacquer off, and then spray on a new coat of lacquer?

i might be able to get some of the surface corrosion off with some strong cleaner / bleach maybe?
