seat removal superb

Featured Replies

hi, can anyone tell me how the bottom rear seat is removed from the superb in order to fit seat covers ect. mine is a 54 plate tdi classic.

many thanks.

First you pull the front edge of the seat straight up, then IIRC you have to push the sides of the base in a little (as far back as you can) to release the rear of the base.

Sorry think I'm being a bit dumb but could you simplify it a bit more

lol, it isn't very well explained i know!

After you have lifted the front of the seat up a couple of inches (out of its fixing) push the seat base (just in front of where it meets the backrest) towards the center of the car - do this on both sides, this will release the fixing and the seat base can be lifted out.

That's fantastic!

It is actually very useful, but it did make me laugh this morning.

Will the seats fold (reasonably) flat if you remove the Seat Base, or can they also be completely removed?

I will drive to Germany in a few days and will have to transport back some big (long) boxes.

They will probably fit in with folded seats, but as the seats don't completely fold down I am not 100% certain yet. So i am thinking of completely removing the rear seats.

Didn't work on mine, the seat wouldn't budge tbh.

When I carry big items in my Superb (not often, because the seat fold is so useless) I remove the seat backs. This is easy enough to do (although you need to remove the central pivot bracket completely as it sticks up) but watch the centre seat belt.

You must pull it out and anchor it with a large croc clip otherwise it winds itself into the seat and won't come out again - guess how I found out...

The seat fold is truly the design of a complete muppet - so of course, dear old VAG did it again on the Mk 2.

This section of the forum has gotten extremely slow and dull, I only visit here these days to see if you'll ever say something good about the Superb. :D

No, it's a pretty crappy car which handles like a boat but which happens to have an excellent diesel engine. It does the particular job I have for it very well and has been well screwdrivered by Skoda.

No wonder they didn't sell very many and the residuals are almost zero. The M-K brigade are not people I'd wish to do further business with either.

Not fair Roto, it's a lot better a car than that, we all know it's bad points and they are V,A and G and S,U and K, other than that it's pretty reliable, economic and spacious, and now cheap.

So far from an owners point of view I'm way happier than I expected to be with it ... and it's not my usual type of motor. Had 3 and 5 series BMWs, Pug 406 3.0 V6 coupe, RX7, Alfa 155, Merc 190 2.6 .... yeah I agree the Superb isn't a World beater on handling but I never thought it would be. Crappy is harsh man.:P

I guess you're talking about the design flaws VAG didn't rethink from the passat? As an all-rounder I can't think of another car anywhere near the price range of a second hand model. You're like the Superb-scrooge "bah humbug". Booo rotodiesel, booooooooooo.:D
