Booming noise at 1300 revs

Featured Replies

When accelerating from low revs, usually in 3rd, 4th and 5th, there is a noise I believe from the exhaust. Is this a Diesel thing, or is my exhaust on its way out already  (After 6 weeks and 3000 miles). The noise sounds just like a blowing exhaust on a petrol car so I'm assuming it's the exhaust, though it may be something else.

Nothing on mine and now covered 10k.

Visit to the dealer perhaps?

i wouldn't take the revs that low. generaly try to keep mine at 2000ish or above. Also find it more economical, plus once at 2000rpm you're right in the max torque band. Presume the gearings the same as my furby vrs. there was a thread on economical driving recently. some good tips on it .

sorry i can't do a link for you(don't know how to).

someone will though :)

cheers hope this helps

Check the Air Filter housing is properly fitted. My Sdi had a similar noise after being serviced and the dealer had not fitted the cover to the Air Filter properly.

I have a one and a bit year old Superb Comfort 130, covered about 35 000 miles. I had a noise similar to this and I think it was the air filter problem mentioned above, something to do with a split hose, was sorted by the dealer after ordering the required part.
