Bluefin for Ovtavia 2.0TFSI

Featured Replies

Now bluefins are available at the moment for £390 i'm very very tempted. My issue is my insurance will increase by £250 a year and i'm concerned about the effects of installing this. Is it likely to teat or damage my divertor/recirculating valve? I know on the MK1 1.8 turbo this valve is weak and renound for failing. Is this the same on the MK2 2.0 TFSI or have they upgraded this valve and is it more reliable? I dont know whether to get the bluefin or am I just asking for more trouble? I still have a warranty on the car also but they wont like it if they discover its been re-mapped

The OEM DV on the KO3 turbo is a weak point. The latest revision, G, is proving to be a little better but ultimately the problem lies with it being so close to the heat of the turbo.

With the KO4 VAG learned their lesson, if you look at a KO4 turbo housing you'll see it is cast with the position for the Diverter as in the KO3 but it hasn't been machined out and instead they opted for a revised fitment and mounted the DV on the front.

The solution, Forge offer a replacement which does work ok. My preferred albeit more expensive option is to convert the KO3 to the same setup as the KO4 by blanking the DV on the KO3 and fitting the pipework associated with the revised location on the K04 cars.

ive got bluefin on mine, and i had a blow off valve fitted to it to release the pressure and heat a little!!!!, (it sounded right when justifying it to my wife anyway) plus it sound cool, if a little loud at times.

id go for the bluefin mate at that price, im gutted i bought mine last month before the xmas savings, typical

The G version seems quite good. I have a Forge but i'll not bother fitting it unless it does give me grief. I remapped my car at 800 miles on the clock. I've recently added the stage 2 stuff and running 288bhp and i have 21k done on the ori G valve.

you say your insurance will increase by 250 quid, im with AXA and mine never changed. although they told me anything more than what i have now, (diverter valve, blufin, pipercross filter)

  • 1 month later...

I got a quote through Adrian Flux and it was cheaper than my current insurance was as a standard car. Will be moving to them in Feb.
