Oh, and the company doing the actual job is Wicked Wheels, who seem to be doing a great job (iirc reading on Scoobynet) at repainting alloys.Q.

They did a good job on transforming my kerbed Impreza alloys to something in a P1 anthracite colour.

TIP: Ask them if you can have a bit of the paint that they use so

that you can touch up your wheels perfectly if they get marked later.

I'm not sure if Wicked Wheels are doing the job now as the dealer referred to the 'bodyshop'. But it is a good tip anyway, and I'll ask the dealer to see to it :D

Ive got the 'light' headlining and A pillar trim on my 2001 car , I thought the black headlining/trim came in with the 2002 model , ie late 2001 , im pretty sure ive seen a 51 reg RS with the dark trim...

The black headlining came in about Mar 02 I think. My car is reg Mar 02, but was built Dec/Jan and has the light grey headlining.

The first MY2002 (Model Year) RS's launched late 2001 had the following over the 2001MY.

1. Flick key

2. Blue tinted side mirrors

3. Retractable not removable by uncrewing aerial, this one is unscrewed a little folded down to the angle of the rear screen and then screwed up again to put through a car wash :(

The black headlining crept in if I remember early 2002 - didnt see any publication about that change.

While we are talking model years and production dates, can the latter be found by decoding the VIN or what?

AL1 (A military term meaning amendment list 1 etc!)

12th to 17th characters- Identifies the sequence of the vehicle for production as it rolled of the manufacturers assembly line.
So what does 728545131 mean?

AL2

I note that many of the car parts are date coded, including the wheels. So I guess one way to get somewhere near a car's production date is to track down the most recent date stamped on a component...

AL3

Time to check the dogs' teeth to find out how old they are........dog.gifdog1.gif

I must have the MY2002 then as I have the flick key and the tinted mirrors (cant say about the aerial though, havent looked at it closely). My car was first registered in Sep 01. Must have been one of the first as I also have the 17" alloy spare...
