PD170 - Length Of Variable Service

Featured Replies

What length of service are you guys getting from the PD170 engine as I fell that I might have had my leg lifted

Car is 4 months old and service light came on 8800 miles it's driven on a motorway at 70/80mph all day. I checked up and the fixed service interval is 9300 mile and I also checked that my car was set for variable service which it was. The service manage was adiment that the car needed a service as it was "saying so" even though I tried explaining that have checked elsewhere it was a case of the service indicator on the dash not been set right.

Can anyone advise ?

My PD140 has been serviced at 19 , 38 and 57k miles - pretty close to the maximum allowable.

At 8800 miles it sounds very much like it's been set to fixed servicing.

Had mine done on Tuesday at 18664.

I had the car in Feb this year with approx 7k on it and when I checked then the time till next service on maxidot it said xxx days and 11,000 miles which turned out just right.

MIne is mainly driven at weekends but driven quite hard when it is been used, although only pushed when engine is warm, never thrashed, especially when cold.

My old boss had his vRS fettled and his first was done at 9000 miles!!!

Steve

Mine had its second service at just under 38000 miles

Maybe the oil used at the last service wasn't up to scratch and simply hasn't stayed in grade!!!

I do my own oil changes using long life oil and change it every 15K as a happy compromise. If you use decent long-life and you don't drive the car like a plonker, this doesn't sound right. That said, if you thrash it from cold et al, you'll pay for it with shorter service intervals:(

First service at 30250km (18800mls), second at 61200km (38040mls) and third is now due at 91800km (57055mls).

Unfortunately the dealer doesnt have any time to do the service the next coming days. So it will be around 95000km where I can bring my car in :(

Had my first one done at 18,500 miles (one year) and, having coincidentally checked earlier this evening, my second will be due at 37,000 miles.

One thing I noticed, which may be worth checking out, was;-

During the summer I had some DPF issues and the DPF warning light flashed up; during the week that I drove the car before my dealer could take it in and do the 26E6 remap, I noticed that the 'range' to next service nosedived by about 500 miles per day, even though I was only covering 50 miles.

I'd therefore suggest that 1) you get a diagnostic check done, and 2) has your car had the 26E6 remap done, if needed?
