Just finished lowering my Fun!

Featured Replies

Woo! As the title really - just wanted to come on here and tell people (how shallow am I?!). It handles/sits/looks/rides soo much better. Always felt they left the factory a bit high :)

how did you lower your ride ? cutting part of the spring?, torch the springs with tension?, or replacing springs ?

Sits very similar to that - except mines on 15's (which i prefer :-) ). I used golf springs (mk IV) on the back, ones designed to lower a golf by 40mm. Looks a smidge higher than yours, but I'm a bassist and have to move my amp around, so need to take that into account!

Pics will follow asap. :-)

dude, it rules, i would love to put that side skirt with the wheel flanges, and those are 15" or 16"?

I prefered 15s (as I fitted after them /\.

I tried MK4 Golf springs but found they fell out when I dropped the wheels down, how have you got around this?

Well... I've put a couple of zip-ties around the springs where they sit in the cups just for good measure, but even without these I found everything stayed in place with the back of the car jacked up? Maybe different brands? I got a mechanic friend of mine to double check it all as the rear springs were the ones I was cautious about, but it got the thumbs up.

Oh - stop posting pics of yours; mine won't look as low now! Those 15's are very nice tho...

I cheated though (kind of), you aint gonna get it as low as that could go on springs, When I fist set it up the diff was sat on the floor.

Remind me never to buy a car off you!
