Considering an Octavia vRS TDi

Featured Replies

What's the score with the TSI Lummox, from what I gather it's got even more power (210 bhp?) and is more economical, with lower CO2?

There are several different versions of the new VAG 2.0 Turbo petrol engine (the one with a timing chain rather than a belt). As usual, so far only Audi are getting the Hi-po versions (with variable intake cam timing).

The one they have been putting into Golf GTIs in the US develops more power below 2,000 rpm, but tapers off slightly at higher revs compared with the "old" engine (but same rated power - 200bhp and torque maximums). This is the one I would expect Skoda to put in the Octy vRS, maybe at facelift time ?

There is also a Partial Zero Emmissions Vehicle (PZEV) version for California, but I don't know what the CO2 output is.

What I would love to see would be an Octy wagon version of the proposed Golf GTI-R. AWD and 255bhp 2.0 TSI

I like my Octy VRS TDI a lot but the rattles, squeeks and trim quality do let it down. The aircon fan flaps clicking behind the dash are the latest get on my t*ts !!

The newer petrol RS here in Germany/Austria/Switzerland already have the TSI engine. The ones already having the interior lift.

i agree with that fully. i have consistently over the last 15500 miles averaged around 26-27mpg around town, with a long run on the motorway producing 35-37mpg.

that isnt half bad when you consider the alternative petrol hot hatches out there

compare the vrs figures of urban at 26.2mpg to the other hot hatches out there, they might be more powerful but with just a remap you will get more power and torque than all of them. and your fuel economy doesnt suffer at all,(well mine hasnt at all, if anything it is now better)

focus ST at 20.5mpg

meganne 225 at 24.6mpg

astra vxr 21.7mpg

i think that just goes to show how good the TFSI engine is.

Yes but they're all quicker!

not once there is a remap they're not, and even then havent even noticed a difference in fuel economy. and if you consider the price of the car plus a remap it is still cheaper than the other alternatives

You can't compare remapped against standard cars. You could remap any of the aforementioned and they would be quicker than a remapped vRS.

Hi

I have a 2007 VRS TDi estate with 18" alloys. I am averaging 45mpg driving like a vicar... 70 on the mway, backing off the throttel in traffic, switching off at the lights....... I did get 52 in heavy stop start traffic ( where it seems to perform best!) but that is unusual...... if I use the torque it'll dro to about 38... seems pointless trying t be frugal, may as well have some fun instead...!

Seems like there's some silly discounting going on out there for brand new cars, random searchs online for discount car suppliers see's a brand new CR vRS TDi specced up for £14k, makes a mockery of 1yr old used ones at dealers for more money!! Oh so tempting but 6mths off really needing to do anything, check me out for planning ahead!!

where can you get a specced up one for that money? :D
