Took the Fab to the garage this morning.

The bushes should be replaced but this is not urgent.

Drivers side front boot needs replacing as it is leaking oil.

The Drivers side spring is SNAPPED:eek: has to be changed.n557356985_1642951_2916.jpg

So considering these.............. Cobra / Lowering Springs / Skoda Fabia 1,4 /1,4-16V/2,0 Incl. Hatchback / Saloon / Estate Chassis:(6Y*) From: 1999> / Euro Performance Car Parts

I might aswell get some lowering ones.

Anyone know any cheap places to get them from.

POTN are good. I got my Leon ones from there with next day delivery. but just some adive, it might be worth doing the dampers as well if you have the cash, If the spring has snapped I would assume it has had some abuse so the dampers might give up soon under the load of the lower suspension. Then you could end up paying another load of labour to get them moved.

Will lowering springs affect my insurance?

Will lowering springs affect my insurance?

yes.

It will very likely go up, by how much depends on what company yur with, if they even want to insure you after mods.

If you choose not to, you may get away with it. Or it could cause all kinds of problems if you're involved in an accident, even one where you are not at fault, or if you get pulled over for a random check-the consequences could be far worse than an increased premium. Your call :)

Though I do not condone undeclared modifications, you might be interested to note that I BELIEVE, H&R produce their lowering springs in black ;)

And I believe VOSA and the Insurance Assessors measuring tapes come in yellow.;)

Some insurance companys will not increase the overall premium, but may add an 'Admin fee' to cover the expensive and time consuming job off adding this modification to their computer files, and this £25 should then mean that items are covered and will be replaced if the car is in an accident, and will also save you the hassle of finding the cash for your own car, someone elses, legal fees, injury fees, and whatever else you could find the accident costs.

To give you an idea, i had an accident in 2003 which was my fault.

The total bill was in excess of £30,000 when you add it all up. my car was only worth £4k and the motorbike i hit was worth under £1k.

Ring your insurance and check, because the expense if you don't could be far more than you expect.

Touché ;)
