Avatar Techie help

Featured Replies

Hi.

I think this could be one for Ian/Colin, but if anyone else could help too that would be ideal. I tried uploading a pic of my car as a custom avatar, and of course the initial picture was way too big. I used microsoft photo editor to "desize" it a bit, but by the time it was small enough to fit into the avatar, it was basically a blob of squares of silver, and you couldn't see the car at all.

How did all you people with avatar's of your cars get them to look a decent resolution yet be that small? I haven't got any decent photoshop type software to amend my picture, but if anyone else could help I'll gladly email the pic, which is currently about 150kb. You'll be thanked with my eternal respect, (or a beer if there's ever a meet down my way)

Cheers

PS: I've attached a 70K image which doesn't have the same resolution. The graphics are not as good

How's this one? I used IrfanView - a downloadable freebie.

Whoops! I cheated you out of 10 pixels - you are allowed 90 x 90.

If you want your other image doing feel free to email it to nick[dot]carrington[at]ntlworld[dot]com

Phew! Cheers, Nick - I'd just uploaded the first image when I got an email saying you'd amde another post, so I've uploaded that one up too. I'm not sure I can tell the difference between 80 and 90, but as long as there is a pic there, I'm chuffed. Remember to make me get you a beer when there's a SW meet. :dtp:

Cheers

Here's the front view (one more to follow):

And another one slightly brighter - it got very dark and contrasty when reduced....

I like the side view - The front one is a bit too dark to shrink to that size. PS I assume you're getting these images off my www? thats what you call initiative, eh? :D

Yes - I remembered you had posted them after I suggested you email it. It could be made lighter still but then it loses the mean look that the sun behind it gave in the first place.

I have to apologise for my crap attempt at writing briskoda over the blacked out number plate. It doesn't really work due to the perspective, but what the hell!! As I have more pages I can use, I may end up making that first page into a page of links to other pages of skoda's - I've got a fair bit of room to use up - I think its 5MB? If I do that I may start a bit of a skoda gallery...
