leaks again

Featured Replies

Hi All,

18 months ago I had the water-leaking-in-near-pollen-filter-killing-the-convenience-unit problem, which was fixed under warranty and has been fine since.

I now have just noticed the *drivers* side rear footwell's soaking wet. Argh.

Is this likely to be a leak coming in from the same blocked drainage channels near the battery? Given it's on the other side are there other likely candidates?

Not sure if it's related but the drivers' electric window mech was replaced recently which could be related. I'm going to take it in and get a local firm to have a look at it but any pointers on likely entry points for water much appreciated...

Cheers

Ric

Hmm...

I'm not at all sure about this, but I think it's definitely worth a shot. These pollen filters cause all sorts of problems...

I'd also check the aircon drain - I'm sure that's around there somewhere.

I'm assuming you've checked the passenger footwell to see if that's wet as well?

99% sure its nothing to do with the pollen filter, the filter is located above the passenger side footwell, hence thats why it is always the passenger side rear footwell that gets wet.

Personally i would be looking for a missing grommet or water marks on the drivers side front bulkhead.

Do you have a sunroof? might be the drain holes have blocked. If you have a sunroof try clearing the tubes that exit between the hinges on the front doors.

When I had my Pollen filter leakage the Skoda guys also found both rear footwells to be wet, they told me this was due to the drainage holes in the bottom of the door being blocked and the door filling with water until it leaked out from behind the door card, this surprised me as when I stripped down a rear door to sort out a window I had managed to disconnect from the window mechanism (long story involving those bloody suckers for kids window blinds) there was an aluminium panel bolted and sealed to the inside of the door behind the door card so I couldnt see where the water could have come through, but the Skoda guys insisted that was the problem, so they stripped both doors down, dried them and the carpets out, unblocked the drain holes and refitted and sealed the doors all at no cost so I didnt question them and it has been fine since!
