Serious handling issue.

The hub carrier I had to replace (the bit that joins the hub to the wishbone area) cost £280 :( Basically it had cracked which allowed the bush and everything else to move around .

Its the front ones, not the rears. He's just called me and said he has the parts - standard skoda ones not TT ones for £30 each. So should be looking at around £100 max all in. I wish [i had read the comment about solid TT ones earlier though and I would have specified those.

I think when bodge said rear wishbone bush he meant the rear bush on the front wishbone  This bush is probably the most prone to failure on the octi due to the design. As said TT bushes are a better design due to being solid, part number for future reference is 8N0407181B

Yeah there are only 2 wishbones on the vRS anyway! Pair of front lowers.

Don't worry about the TT ones this time then, the standard will be fine, but just remember them for the future.

Let us know how she feels after the fresh bush treatment. I love a fresh bush in the morning.....

(pun intended)

Picked her up his evening and although I didn't drive myself my wife did and said its a million times better now. The problem has totally been solved.

I can now recommend a garage in east yorkshire that actually knows what their doing!!

Thanks for all your help though guys - much appriciated.

Have you had the rear beam bushes replaced? These are common failures and make the car feel 'unhinged' similar to you describe.

Don't mess around, get SuperPro replacement poly bushes fitted, it will likely cause a drastic improvement. Having dealt with that, lower front ball joints & the front arm rear bushes if not replaced are likely next culprits.

Around 100k miles is usually when this stuff shows up. If very low miles, I would look for prang related damage first.

i'm litterally on 99000 miles so your theory sounds right! It'll be getting some attention over the coming months but i'm spent up now.
