exhaust gases in car on start up.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just wondered after doing a quick search (not a complete one I have to add) If any of you VRS drivers, especially the SE version, have had a problem of the exhaust gases leaking into the car on start up... Every time for the past month I start the car it stinks inside the car. Somewhere along the line the exhaust gases are leaking into the car and only on start up, I suppose because once moving the air flow stops the gasses from gaining access.

But I am out the country for a little while now and wondered if any of you can help before I have to run it into the Skoda dealer to be sorted. needs doing soon or the 2 year warranty will be up on the car.

help required, sure someone will know something about it...

cheers,

This needs to be rectified ASAP as the gas is toxic. Could be a small leak in exhaust system in the engine bay or downpipe section. Also check for a diesel leak in engine bay, as any fuel getting onto the engine will burn off and smell when car is strarted.

will definately be going to the dealer once I return from houston Texas at end of month, but just thought would give shout out to you all to see if I can get a heads up on it all before the dealer gets his grubby mits on it and states something major wrong.

you know what they are like...

Check the pipe from the vent on the crank case as on some other VAG cars they can perish.

got someone to check the crank case breather. all looking good.

but seeing as the car is only 1.5 years old I am not surprised on that one...

thanks anyway...

I used to get this and really liked the diesel fume smell, so left it :D. I don't have the problem anymore, it seemed to cure itself.
