Using genuine Skoda micriphone with aftermarket phone kits

Featured Replies

I was wondering if it is possible to use the genuine skoda microphone as listed in the integrated bluetooth installation guide on the octavis-vrs.com website

part No 3B0 035 711 B - Microphone

with an aftermarket phone kit so that the microphone can be installed out of sight in the

sun glasses holder in the roof?

What sort of connector is on the end of the Skoda microphone, is it just a standard 3.5mm mono plug as it is on alot of the aftermarket kits ive seen? If so I cant see it being a problem.

Also does anyone know what skoda charge for these?

The micro phone doesn't use a 3.5mm jack plug. The mic as part numbered above has a very small lead on it with a typical VAG connector that plugs into the factory bluetooth loom.

Thats a shame. are the microphones expensive? because if not, I might be tempted to install one, and cut the VAG connector off, and solder on a standard 3.5mm jack.

At the end of the day, the microphones should be compatable.

You could just take the kit's own one and stick it there, using some clever contraption to hold it in place.

No idea what was charged for them but IIRC it wasn't cheap.

I have the parrot microphone in the OEM place, but fwiw it isn't worth it and I'll be trying to put a nokia one in there when I get time and some none freezing weather.

I forget who, but i remember chatting to somebody who had tried it and found the OEM one didn't work but he was going to play with some things and check the wiring. I never heard anything past this.

Oh well, It was worth a try as it would have been nice to have a microphone installed out of sight.

I had already read somewhere about someonetrying to mount the microphone from an aftermarket kit in the OEM place but it wasnt very successful, thats why I thought I would see if the OEM microphone would work with an aftermarket kit, if they were cheap then I would have had a go, but if there not cheap, then its not wort taking the chance.
