105/120 tuning

Featured Replies

hi all hope some one can help, i picked up a105 with only 18k ready to drive, im looking to get more power out of it with out changing the engine cuz of my insurance, any ideas on what can be done and places to get the parts.

the other option is i have a engine out of a cashed 120lse i could pop in wats the best thing to do and wat tuning parts are avaliable for 120 engines

thanks tom

I thought you didnt want to change the engine because of the insurance? The easiest way to get more power would be to fit a 136 1289cc engine. If youre sticking with the 105 (or even going to the 120 engine) then the Ashley exhaust is more free flowing and noisy.....the Weber 30BDIC carb with foam filter is available to fit and may give an extra few horses. You could get your cam reprofiled by Kent....if youre sticking with the 105 then a 136 cam would give a slight enhancement.

Its all a case of how much money youve got.

Keep an eye on Ebay......there are sometimes bits on there.

The easiest and cheapest way is to bung in a 136 engine......there are plenty around and will give a decent power hike over a 105.

www.jorily.com is a UK supplier....he does all sorts of things, and if its not on his website he can often get it from Czech.

thanks, my 120 lump has no engine number for some reason,so the insurance would not know as 105/120s look the same.I have a tuned 136 in the shed but my insurance was 1500 quid with a standard 136 lump crazy thanks p.s would the 136 cam fit if so would it make much difference thnks again

It will fit....not sure how much difference it'll make though. Fit the 120 lump (although committing insurance fraud is a crime and if you get found out you will be in deep crap.......for instance if you run someone over and they die they would examine your car in infinite detail!), and do the carb and exhaust and it will go much better than the 105 lump thats for sure.

spoke to my insurance compony and they said they would except a engine change if it was no more than 12hp from standard engine, thats good news for the bank balance. Also good as i want to be legal as well. thanks

The word is that the cam from an S110r is the best one to have, along with the distributor from a 105. These are what i will be using in the 120 motor in my roadster, once the bodywork is done and painted

get a felicia engine... same as the 136 rapid one and it won't give you any problems at all running unleaded, you'll need a rapid exhaust manifold IIRC.

You didnt read his earlier posts now did you!!!:D

If you can find an S110R cam then youre doing very well. Theyre like rocking horse poo! Jorily sells an electronic ignition kit which will help your spark. Beyond that and the carb I guess youre looking at having the head ported and polished.....which will be expensive unless you ca find a 2nd hand one thats had it done already.....which is unlikely unless you go for the 130 engine.

ooops... guilty of only reading the first page....
