this newer 507 00 oil, is it any better for the engine than the 505 01 stuff ?

i know it costs more, and i dont care about that, my only concern is that im filling my car with the best oil available

one thing i have noticed is that a lot of the 505 01 oils are only synthetic based, not fully synthetic

also do people rate any oil as being the best ? i know on the Clio forums (previous car was a Clio) i go on Silkolene and Motul were the best oils to use

one concern i have is that its a 5w-30 instead of a 5w-40, im wondering if the thicker 40 rated oil is what the engine would be best run on, i know 30 rated oils may give me better economy but maybe at the expense of slightly more wear due to less film strength ???

I've used 5w30 oil for about 6000 miles now.

Apparantly, the dealers are using this stuff these days anyway. It's a more modern oil that has superceded the 5w40 stuff.

Well if you like Silkolene then go for one of the oils GSF sell, ie Fuchs (same company), usually a good price - check the Fuchs site for the one you need and see if your local GSF sell or can get that one in.

marky how has the 5w30 been then

does the engine sound any different, does it use anymore oil ?
