climate heater too hot

Featured Replies

Help needed please, my Octavia I climate control is playing up. It doesn't seem to make a difference what temperature i set it on, its too hot - unless i turn it down to 17oC. Also, since its been doing this, i can hear clicking coming from the bottom of the dash behind the climate control panel, which sounds like a flap closing/ trying to close. Does anyone know if its a sensor problem or if its the flaps in the heater box that are the problem?

thanks

:o If its anything like the Fabia it will be the stepper motor for the flap control, our has done it a few times and the fault sometimes clears if you switch the engine off for a couple of minutes, its at the back of the heater matrix under the dash if I am correct. cheers - Stuart.

Look in the vag com locator section or take it to a specialist & get a full fault code scan. A scan of the HVAC system will likely reveal the fault.

the V71 flap motor is common fail, but the heat control flap motor failing as mentioned would cause the problem you mentioned. However so would the int temp sensor, hence needing a scan.

Greg.

Thanks Stuart.

Before doing anything else, have a poke at the controls, and keep changing them; that might clear if it the motor's just sticky. Otherwise, as Greg says, and there's a list of VAG-Com users who'll check the system for you somewhere on the site; look at the menu etc buttons up top.
