Fuel Filler Cap Cable Replacement

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, my fuel filler cable has frayed inside and it is now impossible to open the flap from inside the car, using the lever. We currently open the flap from inside the boot area, but I have bought a new ( genuine part at about 12 quid ) cable. I have removed the plasic trim in the car down the driver's side and the whole job LOOKED straightforward. BUT, I cannot release /move the trigger set up from its location. I have obviously undune the two 'tork' screws, but the bracket / trigger assembly does not want to move.....................

Any ideas please ?? It's very limited space between the sill and driver's seat. Has anyone done the job please ?? Did you take the driver's seat out ??

Many Thanks folks.. ( 2001 Fabia 1.9 TDi )

All sorted now!! 3 bolts hold down the trigger mechanism bracket. Local Skoda Main agent suggested 'super glue' to fix outer cable to sleeve at filler flap end. Don't like this one little bit !! Suppose you need to change / remove later ? I used strong 'gaffa' tape. Cable goes nowhere .......

Didn't need to take seat out, but very tight. All working fine now.

Keep it up................
