Dance Sound Quality

Featured Replies

I am surprised to see no negative comments on the sound quality of the Dance stereo system. My system has the most unpleasant over-emphasis to a particular bass frequency which makes it virtually impossible to listen to most rock music. I have noticed that there is no difference whether the "Loudness" control is on or off which makes me wonder whether it is some how stuck on and so causing the problem.

Might be something wrong. I do agree that the 'bass' can be too much of a good thing.

The bass on mine was lousy so I reset it to -1.

I like listen to Radio 5 a lot, but it sounds so bad that I can't. I'm not sure if it's just a bad AM tuner.

Mine is fantastic for a wide variety of music from all the sources.

It's the best OEM stereo i have ever come across. So good infact I left it in!

Praise indeed

I agree with the praise of the Dance system. My only criticsm of it is actually the patchy radio reception, but when the reception is good or when you are playing off a cd the sound quality is excellent.

If you're not finding it so good then I would guess you either have a problem with it or you need to adjust the bass/treble/midrange levels.

I have mine all close to neutral with 'loud' off.

Has anyone looked at a DAB radio / CD to couiple to the Dance?

Loud only makes quiet sounds louder, so would probably make more difference when you've got the system turned down to a quieter level.

Oh I LOVE bass me! Crank it! Crank it! Boom boom boom let me hear yopu say wayo!

the standard head unit and speakers in the fabia I are really good as well. It sounds better than most after market head units up to the £150 mark from what i've demo'd. Plus you can connect pre -out cable so u can add an amp + sub

My wifes Dance Unit is FAR better than Honda Civic by a country mile!!!

As a music 'freak'...errr!...ok, just a freak! I find the Dance brilliant for CD's and radio. We play our MP3 quite a bit through it too and it just sounds superb. We twiddled with the fiddly bits to get it just right and WOW!! Like Decron...I left it in because it is so good.

A bit off-topic but does anybody have problems with the radio switching to other stations when the traffic alerts are switched on. The channels it switches to are usually ones that rarely, if ever broadcast traffic alerts like Radios1, 3 and 4. Sometimes it will switch for just a second and then back again. At it's worst this happens several times a minute.

I have the same problem. I presume you have to knock the TA off. I am in the Manchester area and when listening to Radio Manchester it can switch to Merseyside, Leeds and Sheffield in a matter of two minutes.

The system scans for the traffic announcements in your region if 'TA' is switched on. It will report like this to be as helpful as possible...good if you are a busy rep but sometimes intrusive if having a relaxing drive!!! (is that still possible!).

For TA here in the UK we use a system called RDS EON, what that means is that whenever a station broadcasts traffic info then the EON network knows which station is and the HU switches. Which is all good in theory, BUT,,, here in the UK we have two EON networks, one broadcast by the BBC and the other the IBA. They operate separatly and the data is not shared between them,

What does this means to you and I?. if you are listening to a BBC station you will only get TA from BBC stations, listening to independents (IE. hertbeat) will get you all the rest of the TAs but not the BBC ones.

The HU does not search for traffic news, it listens for EON announcements on the station its currently tuned to. Without EON you would only get TA on the station being listened to whilst listening to a CD for example.

:thumbup:Yeah! What he says!!

But as I am getting false traffic interuptions from the likes of Radio's 1, 3 &4, doesn't that suggest my unit is faulty?

Possibly, I dont get false interuptions from these stations, although I dont have a Dance. Currently have a columbus but previously had an audience which used simillar software.

Does the standard 'Dance' head unit have pre outs?

This head unit is fitted to all Fabia mark II's but the level one only has front speakers, does anyone know whether rear speakers can be connected?

No it doesn't have pre outs but it should have a rear channel despite the lack of speakers.
