CG Lock

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has ever used a CG lock on their seatbelts during a bit of track day action, are they worth the £40? Might have to look into a group buy if the feedback is positive.

Thanks, John :)

I know they get mentioned on here quite a bit, but I just make sure the belt's nice and snug by reaching over my shoulder and pulling in all the slack!

Yes I have, and yes, they are well worth the money.

Another vote of confidence here, I've used mine on the Ring and in daily driving and it helps you corner because you're not having to grip the wheel hard just to stop you sliding around in your seat. Makes you feel more like "part of the car" :)

Saying that I loaned it to a mate with a Civic Type-R while we were at the Ring and he didn't notice any difference but then the Civic seats are morelike fabric bucket seats whereas the Octy is slippery half-leather.

If you keep looking on ebay they aren't always as expensive as £40

Yeah thanks mate, its the ring Im looking for - when I was in the car this morning I did just try pulling on the belt to see if it made much difference, I was surprised (without realising prior) how much slack there is in the belt across your lap. I reckon its got to be worth a punt for 40 quid or so, think it will instill more confidence during a lap.

Well worth it, even just driving down twisty roads, it does however make the top half of the belt feel slack in comparison.

What are these things supposed to do that adjusting the belt properly over your hips below the illiac crests and pulling out the slack doesn't?

Well just pulling it tight doesn't keep it tight. The CG lock locks the lapstrap in place so you are held firmly in the seat at all times.

I love mine, wouldn't be without it. Its great for comfort on long haul journeys too, and good if you suffer lower back pain.

on my Focus you can adjust the belt across your lap, but unless you also pull it tight across your chest then give a good tug to lock the entire belt there isn't any way of holding it there once adjusted which is where the CG Lock comes in

Shame you did not have one in the passenger seat of my Octy vRS at the handling day.....LOL

Trust me guys; when I adjust the belt right it stays adjusted, and I only "slip" anywhere when G-loading gets high enough that I bend at the waist and start falling out fron under the diagonal, and no clip in the World will cure that!

Probably not a product for you then Ken.

Of the 17 cars I've owned, none of them could hold you in the seat, as snug and upright as the CG lock. As I say, the biggest benefits are support when cornering, less fatigue and no more lower back pain. :)

When I sold my Focus the guy that bought it insist I let him keep the CG lock. I tried to live without it but missed it sorely.

Another thumbs up from me as well, I love mine, but need to see if I can get another "clip" (the thing that engages the lock / unlock) as a dealer was grumbling about it when in for a service and when I picked the car up the clip was missing and the CG was a danglin'

I have driven a week without it now and boy oh boy do I miss the CG

Yeah, you should have had the decency to get two for your car Gerry

I don't know if the Fabia has height adjustable seats but a little tip I find works with mine is lock the lap belt nice and tight with the CG-lock and then pull the height adjuster lever at the side of the seat a couple of times, that makes it extra (uncomfortably) tight  absolutely no sliding about at all

Just found mine back :D

I'd say it was deffinately worth it and Tom's comments are pretty much spot on imo.

Looking forwrad to using it in anger when the new car arrives ;)

then you obviously don't have a standard seatbelt in your car, other than pulling the whole thing super tight then yanking on it to lock the entire belt then there is no way of keeping the lap belt at full tightness.

i found my cg lock excellent when on track.

I'd say I'm the only person that does, because the design of an inertia reel belt is such that it will only tighten up in use, unless you're a fidget!

Not tight enough though, hence the CG lock steps in.

I got one and I agree with everyone, they are awesome :thumbup::thumbup:
