Road rallying

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone had any tips for driving an Estelle (or something similar) in road rallies? I'm supposed to be making my road rally debut next month :mischief: although its on Friday the 13th....:eek::eek::eek::eek:....

Does anyone have any advice to help me combat my superstitious fears....?!!!

Ta!

Lucy

Slow in, fast out, and don't lift off once you put the power down in a turn: That will lead to an unexpected panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.

Also, don't go in expecting to win anything other a rookie or maybe best girlie award.

just have fun... and drive within your and the cars capabilities.

if you want to win then... get a good navigator, you won't need to drive too fast if your navigator is spot on...

Tenman has hit the nail on the head....theres not really such a thing as road rallying anymore (not like in the 70s and 80s where people went flat out all night in competition cars on the public roads)...nowadays theyre referred to as navigational rallies and although speed is useful, a top navigator and a bit of concentration will go a lot further than an extra few bhp.

heh, had a few scarey moments in Navigation rallies where I cocked up for my driver and he had to make up time...

Further thought - Czeck out the Advanced Driving forum on here; there's a lot of it that's applicable to driving as fast as you safely can, like discussions on limit points (aka vanishing points), off-siding, left-foot braking...
