Bulbs??

Featured Replies

I'm thinking on getting some better bulbs for my car but want something with a blue tint to it as I tend to find it makes the light look whiter once its on the road.

Looking at powerbulbs.co.uk it seems I need to buy 4 bulbs 2 low beam and 2 main beem... is this right??

also whats the best blue bulbs? the philips or osram ones

Cheers,

Yep - about right - and can get blue sidelights bulbs too, but they shine white.

Best option I've found is Vision Plus Bulbs for the low beam - very white light indeed! and then 100W rallye bulbs for the main beam, which are illegal to use, but then I never use mine *cough.

There are other choices, but I prefer the philips ones.

edit: some pictures... Here's dipped beam with vision plus'es. ;)

And here's with the rallye main beam bulbs on... Hard to tell how good they are from this, but they urinate on standard main beam bulbs from a great height. ;)

Philips or Osram? Both as good as each other.

You will need 2 H7 bulbs & 2 H1 bulbs, IIRC.

As far as blue tinted bulbs go....they will shine a bluey white but you will lose the brightness.

I had some PIAA Hyper White bulbs in my Corrado. Dipped beam was whiter but not as bright as normal halogen bulbs. Main beam was fantastic, but they were H4 bulbs (dual filament).

Nice, Jason. Where from, and how much.

Also, are they easy to fit. :)

Jonno(no rude comments about my mate Jason :D )

Easy to fit but wait for someone to mention headlight covers in the gearbox cables.... One of my numpty moments with the old car. :D But dead easy to fit. The vision plus bulbs were about

Im guessing the wiring in the skoda will take higher wattage bulbs? I wanted better lights in my old Megane for rallies etc so whacked some bulbs from the rally cars in and it burnt out the wiring! Doh! Never dared to try it on another car since LOL

Good point!

It's been quite a few years since I attended college, but by my reckoning 100W bulbs will draw 8A whilst standard 55W bulbs will draw just 4.5A. I may be wrong here, but do I smell burning?

Thanks Jason, think i'll def go for the vision plus, might not bother with the rallyes. Halford's any good, or online somewhere.

Cheers

Jonno.

Believe me... VAG wiring can cope EASY with the extra demand of Rallye bulbs... I think someone who used to run 130 WATT lights will surface soon... :D

You can't burn out the OEM wiring on these headlights - its just capable of doing a lot more than the 55w bulbs allow!
