Felicia Immobiliser problem

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope someone can help me with this. I have a Skoda Felicia 1996, at the end of November my ignition barrel went totally up the shoot. While I could start the engine, I could not switch it off so had to stall the car and disconnect the battery. Anyway, I got in touch with the local Skoda dealer, booked the car in for a new ignition barrel and away we go. Or not ! They fitted the barrel, BUT have then told me there was a problem with the immobiliser and instead of getting my car back after an hour, I would have to wait 3 days ! Called them again today, and they still have not looked at my car and told me the technician is now booked up for the next 2 weeks. Apparently the wire they need to connect to download the new key code is not working and they do not know why. Can anyone shed any light on this for me ? Is it difficult to fix ? Does it take long ? They think it could be a problem in the wiring or a fuse blown ??Obviously I can't drive the car away if the immobiliser isn't working but am getting more and more frustrated. Thanks

it's unlikely to be a wiring problem, but it does make sense, the ecu, immobilizer and and diagnostics connector all use the same wire to communicate with each other..

i suppose it's possible the the main ecu fuse has blown too

All they had to do was swop the transducer from the old keys to the new. I have a problem with my barrel at the moment and will be swopping it for a second hand one soon.

Tell them you want a courtesy car, as it is obviously something they have done

:iagree: - particularly about swapping the lock blade to the old key or transducer to the new.
