Featured Replies

My car is 4 years old in March so time for a cambelt change and changing the water pump at the same time plus the M.O.T.

The dealer quoted me £400 and the Independent £340, sent a e mail to the dealer asking if they will match this offer.......... still waiting for a reply lol.

i got mine done for £350 at a skoda dealer about 20 mins from where i live. The one about 5 mins away wanted £490

I got my cambelt/waterpump, and the full 4 year service for £400 from my local independant, which I thought was an alright price. Dealers wanted nearly £800!!

went to dealers in carlisle with waterpump and timing belt kit, g12 etc and they fitted it all for £150 cant remember parts costs but think i got a good deal :)

i got my timing belt and waterpump replaced for £265 inc vat and fitting using genuine vag parts except the water pump as i specified a metal impellor

Lummox at unit18 will give you a good deal and is probably a bit closer than central scotland

The dealer said they will match the £340 so gone back to the Independent for a reply to see if they can better it.

id go dealers mate for timing belt... they will be pro's at it... also you will get a guarantee...

thats about the only thing i'd go to the dealers for

it seems alot of people have had their water pumps replaced is it a common thing to fail?

On some engines more than others, Ive seen only one TDi one fail but a fair few petrol ones.

I am changing the water pump because you never know, I am hoping to keep the car for at least another few years.
