Can Anyone Give Me Advice on Lowering 30mm Please?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After being given a good quote for adding lowering springs/uprated shocks.

I've been looking into lowering my Octavia Mk2, 30mm all around on Eibach's and then having the geometry set correctly.

As from what i can gather, the camber is adjustable without using shims?

The main question is, do i really need to get uprated shocks to go with it?

I would like the ride to be more tought, but without too much compromise to ride quality. Would the standard shocks be up to supplying the kind of ride im after without effecting the reliabilty too much?

I was looking at the Koni FSD's but at £450.

I soon got put off by the price, the next shocks ive seen are the Eibach ones as listed on Awesome GTI. Roughly £100 cheaper, but understand from searching previous threads that the ride maybe a little more crashy.

Even with the bump stops shortened.

So ppl, your advice would be greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

on my last car (focus 2.0 esp) i had it lowered only on eibach springs and ride was better than standard, and handling wise tremendous.

it depends really on how worn the original shocks are. mine had only done 40k so they were fine (no leaks and bounced tested fine).

Mines got 125k on it, at the moment...and seems absolutely fine dampening wise.

Passed its MOT without any quibbles.

What i dont like about the suspension at the moment is its very unpredictable if theres any need to press the brakes sharply for any obstacle during a bend. The front end dives and makes the rear light.

Anyone have any more thoughts on the subject matter?

really depend on what you are looking for then, if your using it for the odd b'road swift drive then i'd stick the eibach setup (shocks and springs) on and maybe think about getting a rear antiroll bar?? if yours hasn;t got one!

I've just bought the springs from Awesome GTI today, and been up and collected them.

Going to stick with the standard shocks for the time being.

Now i need to wait till next weekend to fit them now so i can get it booked in on saturday for the geometry set.

good stuff!! you'll have to let us know what you think when your done!
