Rear Wishbone Bush - Price

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I had the car MOT 'd today and the mechanic indicated that the Rear Wishbone Bush was playing and needs changing - Apparently this will cost £150 each side.

I have noticed a bit of a knocking noise but does any one know whether this part is common to fail and whether it is as expensive as what was quoted.

Seems a bit steep to me especially given the age of the car.

What does a wish bone actually do - Note he did show me the part which was an inch behind the front wheels. They looked almost triangular

£300!!! They are 'aving a laugh!!!

about 1.5-2 hours (max) work plus about £25 parts (£125+VAT). Get more quotes for the job - this garage wants to shaft you!!!

Thanks guys - I am seeing some knocking noise which is why I ask

I always thought this was down to the cheap bushes which could be replaced - I have a 2001 Fabia

I guess as a question for you guys - Can I replace the bushes which I understand will set me back a lot less instead of replacing the whole wishbone?

Would this reduce the noise?

Thanks

was the price they quoted for new wishbones aswell then ?

the bush in question isnt actually part of the wishbone, the wishbone kinda fits into it

even at main dealer prices for labour, you would only be looking at ~£200 id imagine

I always thought the bushes were about £5 each with half an hour as labour?

I had this done before on one side - Is this something different?

Go to an independent garage to have the work done.

But you are looking at over £100 to have it done in most cases.

Make sure you have them replaced with SOLID BUSHES FROM THE IBIZA CUPRA 2002-2007.

These are a lot more hardwearing, and although you may get a very slight increase in road noise in the long run its worth it.

Drop Ross a PM, Unit18 - if he's near enough :)

For ref I charge £120 all inc to supply and fit the console bushes.

coulda made that £200 ross considering the previous quotes :D
