Hmm. I don't think this is affected by the issue which the 4th gan Nano and 2nd gen Touch has, so you should be able to use the older (and cheaper) iPod head units.

However to test that I'd take your iPod into Halfords - you don't have the buy the unit from us, obviously, and that's not my point - but stores do have iPod head units installed and working in such a way you can plug your iPod into it.

If it works, it hasn't got the issue, and you can use any of the iPod head units currently made (for that money I'd recommend one of the Alpine digital media receivers although they look a bit, er, odd)... if it doesn't then I'm afraid you may struggle for a complete iPod solution at the moment.

i went out in end and purchased an ipod ready fusion headunit the ipod fits inside the head unit itself with different adapters

The only problem with (i think all?) aftermarket head units is you loose the maxidot display and steering wheel controls.

I was so tempted in fitting a double din DVD player until i found this out. (i also cant stand the display being a different colour to everything else - and green ones are hard to find).

Dension Icelink 300 (I think) retains CD changer and some steering controls. Track 1,2,3 etc appears in the maxidot rather than the track title.

Works fine (and charges as you go)
