Bolero retro fit Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Is it possible to fit Bluetooth to the Bolero? not willing to pay £350 for a factory fit option! I purchased a unit from ebay for that price which had sat nav,TV,ipod connection,Bluetooth and DVD playback!

If I were you I'd reconsider the factory option. By the time you've tried to get anywhere near the functionality you'll be wishing you'd spent the £350.

Like I said I have a unit in my Octavia which is non OEM, I could take it out and retro fit it (would loose steering wheel controls) but reluctant to do that. My "great idea" of having a sat nav was not that great, old map software (as Columbus owners are finding out) and Kids cannot see the DVD properly in the back! think I will have to go the TomTom way it is a bit of a faff but the new model has at last got a decent cradle and Bluetooth. I have Placed the order for a 140PD SE with Park Assist in steel grey, would have loved the 170 Elegance but not made of money!

? So you what unit do you have? If it's a columbus then it is OEM

Its a "Witson Industrial" and a good unit.

If you went to a skoda unit you wouldn't loose your steering wheel controls.... or are they non - oem ?

What function of BT are you after ? Phone, A2DP, data transfer ..... ?

As far as I know skoda's BT phone prep will interface with any of the OEM head units

I don't think there was anything wrong with the Columbus maps. Ok so they didn't have the 5 digit postcode that everyone raves about but I managed perfectly.

I did read it "should be compatable" with steering wheel and I just want A2DP but the unit is not as Professional as the Skoda units.

Skoda phone prep won't do A2DP, just phone... unless I'm mistaken (Stu ?)

the columbus sat nav is great. I was unsure about it not having 7 digit - a fundamental error in this day and age i think - but apart from that its great. i like the lane guidance and the instructions are better. rather than having a set of pre programmed responses like tomtom (take the next exit) it will actually tell you more meaningful info (take the next exit for Lincoln). much more useful. It is expensive but I like it. although I effectively got it for free as I would have bought the elegance model for other reasons sat nav or no sat nav ! The BT is the best system i have ever used.

£1300 upgrade from the SE for columbus! toooo expensive! but like you say bought elegance for other reasons and that would have been my choice but SE does just about what I want.

I don't think the Skoda stuff does A2DP.

TomTom also does the nice 'take the next exit for Lincoln' stuff now. It requires the latest software, and one of the new 'speech synthesis' voices. If you know what you are doing, you can 'persuade' even the oldest TomTom units (mines a 910) to run the latest software.

I've got all the lane guidance, mapshare and internet goodness on mine, and it all works perfectly. It's just a shame TomTom won't release an official version of the new software for older units.

Bagpuss.
