Brake Lights Stuck On ...

Featured Replies

All 3 of my brake lights on my VRS have stuck on even though the ignition is off. Anybody got any ideas what this could be? Thanks.

Faulty brake light switch.

Brake light switch? The circuit is live even when ignition is off. If your really unlucky it could be a short somewhere, hope it's just the switch.

Thanks guys. Do you think this easily fixable or will it have to go in to be fixed?

It's fairly DIYable, if you don't mind grazing your knuckles, and taking care to install the new switch correctly (or else it will break). In the meantime, take care that you don't allow the battery to drain. :)

Pull the switch and remove the plug before your battery dies. Switch just twists out, 10 minute job on a bad day.

IIRC the faulty switch might give you strange engine response, as it might be used as a throttle position over-ride signal. Not 100% sure about that, but do remember heel and toe driving being hindered with it.

Cruise control wont work, that's for sure

Ok, thanks. I have just pulled the fuse out for now. Its still under warranty so i will get the dealers to have a look at it.
