latest revision high pressure fuel pump 2.0T

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anyone noticed a bhp difference by just fitting the latest revision High Pressure Fuel Pump to a 2.0T. I have an early 06 vRS and my car seemed to be suffering from fuel cut on the RR last year. It is running REVO stage 1.

I have the autotech fuel pump kit and a new cam follower.

Should I go ahead and just install the new pump or will the Autotech stuff make much of a difference compared to the later pumps?

Reliability is first on my mind and I don't want to be checking my cam follower every 5,000 miles.

Advice please!

How do you mean the latest revision? You mean the actual OEM pump in later cars? I think they are the same regarding flow etc same size plunger. I checked my follower today after 25k (miles) and even though there is no wear on the follower the black coating was slightly worn off. However this is happeneing to cars with OEM pumps.

Yes the pump fitted to later cars. Has anyone fitted one to an early car and got a bhp increase due to the increased fueling that they are supposed to give?

F3ck it. I'll fit the Autotech stuff and see how it goes......

There was someone else with a 06 car on Westwards RR with an Autotech, Milltek and Evom's and stage 2 Revo and got 265bhp. :)

I would advise you buy a later revision pump before installing your Autotech internals. They function better on later pumps. I have an 06 build car, which HAD an old revision. I tried to install the Autotech internals to that pump and it worked with little success. With the latest revision pump I tried again and it all worked perfectly.

Later pump has been acquired.........

What year did the revised fuel pump start getting fitted

My07 iirc?

Hey guys,

I just checked my pump and its an "F" revision. From what i can find on the web thats not the most recent or the oldest "B" version.

Anyone had any problems with this pump and has anyone put the autotech internals into this pump?

Cheers

Ron

Can I ask how much it cost for a newer OEM pump?

I have a 57 plate VRS but was suffering from fuel cut and noticed that the registration doc for the car had a manufacturing year of 2006 so guess the current pump is an old one.

Has your car been re-mapped?

If not then i doubt you would be suffering from fuel cuts and if you are then get it back to Skoda ASAP as it will be covered under warranty.

Do you have Red or Green Brake Calipers? if they are Red you have a MY2007 car if green then MY2006. My vRS is a 07 plate and i have Red calipers so yours should be a MY2007 being a 57 plate. Unless you have been unlucky and the dealer you got it from has had it sat around for a while before registering it

If you have had it remapped then my advice would be to go with an APR upgraded pump. I have Autotech internals in mine however i had one of the first batches. They changed them slightly a while back and people have had problems since.

APR pump is about £600 iirc but is definately worth it in the long run especially if you are going to push the engine. It definately a route im considering.

if you read through the golf gti forums, there are alot of guys using the autotech internals, with no issues. As far as they are concerned it must have been a bad patch maybe.

surely autotech would have revised any bad design as soon as an issue was highlighted. i very much doubt they would have carried on selling duff parts.

I will be ordering some for mine i think soon

Another trawl through the forums showed that the newer OEM pump is about £250. With the cost of the Autotech or KMD internals being about £200 ish (may be more with postage as I can't see who sells in the UK) and the hassle/risk of fitting, it makes the horrible cost of an APR pump a bit less frightening. Think I'll follow Mater's advice and start saving!

However JKM's price is nearer £717 for APR pump + £57 if you want it fitted:

add JKM price

Fitting of the internals is actually quite easy.

I managed it. It took me 5 hours or so though but i was being overly cautious i would be quite happy doing it now in about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. As long as you set TDC it will be fine.

However if you have to buy a new Pump first then your better off taking the APR one

APR Pump

Awesome's price is £713 inc VAT in that link. You could quite easily fit it yourself if you are technically minded. I will be doing mine myself and i have no mechanical expertise whatsoever

reference putting the pump to top dead centre, it isnt needed.

when my original pump went t*ts up, the vw guy who replaced it said it didnt need to be done and most certainly wouldnt seize the engine. all setting it to TDC does is release the pressure on the spring (this is all from him though):o And im guessing he is right as mine is still runing sweet

It seems that some cars are affected if you don't set TDC and some aren't. I know some people have reported problems if TDC not set

When it comes to messing about with parts like that i would rather not take the risk TBH and for the extra 5 mins it takes to set TDC is it really worth taking the risk.
