Auxillary heater

Featured Replies

I understand that the auxillary heater might not be needed/available in Britain, but I ask anyway if someone might know how to set the programmed times for the heater? I would like it to switch on Monday-Friday in the morning as well as in the late afternoon for my commuting to and from work, but the manual is vague on this. I might stick with the remote operation, but it would be nice to have the work day shedule warmed up. Anyone that knows and that can walk me through?

If it's like on the Octavia II, you can program 3 pick up times via the Maxi Dot. I have never tried to do more than one at a time.

How to program the heater is self explaining once you enter the heating menu in the maxi dot. The most common mistake people do is forgetting to tell the car which day of the week it is when they program the heater.

-It works like this:

-Open the aux heating menu in the maxi dot

-Make sure heating and not ventilation is ticked in the heating options.

-Decide how long the Webasto should stay on. How long it actually stays on depends on lots of factors like the coolant temp, ambient temp, the last selected cabin temp via climatronic, battery voltage etc etc. If your drive to work is less than 20 minutes, don't let the Webasto run for more than 20 minutes.

-Start by "telling" the car what day of the week it is. This is done in "weekday"

-Choose one of the Pre set start times, and enter the day and time of day you would like the webasto to start.

-Activate the heater in the "activation" part of the menu. If you forget this, the Webasto won't start.

Enjoy a pre warmed up car!

One thing I'm really uncertain of, is if the heater is influenced by the use of the ECON function on the climatronic. On VW cars, neither the webasto or the PTC heating element (as fitted to cars destined for cold climates without Webasto heaters) would start if Econ is activated. If you could enlighten me on this I would be very happy!

Thanks for the input JonA!

I thought that I could programme it for the whole week in advance, but I suspect that that might pose a safety issue if it would be left too long. I will just have to activate the next time (afternoon or next morning) before leaving the car, i.e. just change the day in the settings since the times are the same. This is so much easier with the Superb since access to the settings is from the steering wheel! I used to use an electric heater on my previous car, so I have to learn anew.
