i actually did carbon one of these, heres a couple of pics...

splitter2.jpg

the problem was it was too big to bake, and as suck would be hard for me to do using my current resins as they need baking.. i also had to do it in 3 pieces which, althought the joins werent noticable, I knew they were there..

also postage was a nightmare as it could only go standard parcel because of its size...

all the best

Tony

Oh no that is another mod thought being triggered, along with a carbon rear spoiler.........

Engine cover? I know forge make 1 for £120, but I'm sure u could undercut them tony.

do you have a pic of that one mark?

is it solid carbon fibre?

has anyone seen one

T

Ideas?

The WRC rear spoiler would look superb with the central upper spar done in Carbon, especially on a lighter coloured car like silver or red.

cheers mark.. that engine cover looks quality and although i could cover one a bit cheaper in reality i would advise people to get this one as its a fair price and the quality looks good..

as for the spar in the rear spoiler, if it is detatchable then i could have a look no problem... does someone have a pic?

all the best

p.s. i am doing something for lex on here which may be of interest to some when its finished..

I know and I am so excited thinking what the end result will be like :D That splitter looked ace mate. You really should quit the day job, get a bigger oven and carbon laminate my whole car

Ian

lex how easy is it to remove that pannel???

p.s if you want your engine cover etc painted i dont mind doing it...have just done all mine and came out really good... will pst some pics tomoz

Quite an easy job Clive. 2 screws at the top, 2 metal clips down each side which can be released by sliding a screwdriver down each side and 2 plastic clips at the bottom which are the tough buggers. Had to pull the surround forward and feed a screwdriver behind the surround and push down to release them. They are about 2" each side of center. there is 4 little studs that hold the fabric on the steering column to it as well but they just pop off. Maybe when Tony's ready he can post some pics of the back of it to give a better idea of how it fixes.

yup will do, its had 2 coats of resin, just doin a couple of other bits then will flat it down and give it 2 more coats before another flat, then its off to be polished.. it was a pig to do as i said Ian, but with hidsight there may be another better place to put the inevitable join in the carbon, not that it'll be very noticable because hopefully it wont...

i cant take any pics at the mo as the back cant be seen due to the tape all over it lol.. this is to keep the resin off it..

T

Can't wait to see it Tony, Really appreciate your time and effort on this. I did think it would be difficult if not impossible due to the angles involved so the fact that you have managed it is testament to your skills

Ian

Did you ever get my email address Tony? I've been having problems with PM's so not sure if mine made it to you
