doesnt look bad that, good job, looking forward to seeing the pics when fitted back into the car

yes looks very good, nice one!

Is it an overlay kit or have you fabricated the whole part, if its an overlay does it fit ok?

cheers guys, what it is sweedish is a carbon fabric covering to the original part..

I cover the original part in carbon fabric, 2x2 twill weave... resins set everything in place, then its all trimmed and more resin applied... finally the items are flatted and laquered to give the UV protection and hard wearing covering they need...

doing it this way is that you use the original fixings so it should fit perfect.. if a little bit tighter...

Dans fitting his set soon so will be able to report back on how it fits.. still early stages though but looks good so far

Looking very good work there, can't wait to see pics of them fitted!

Looking good,

I'll ask what everyone else is probably thinking, are you likely to start producing them and if so what sort of price.

Andy.

thats what i thought, so you retain your original part underneath,

Will be interested to see pics!

What do you do when you flat them and uv treat them, is that a top coat almost like a lacquer or is it in the last layer of resin you apply?

That looks very nice!

hi guys... the top layer is 2 pak laquer, the same as used on cars, it has UV protection and is also hard wearing.. there are resins on the market that can do this, but to be honest they are more difficult to get perfect... and altho I am not saying my stuff is perfect its a lot better then some carbon laminated parts out there, simply because i know what its like to want things flawless for my car (i did all my own interior by the way, pics can be posted on request)

as for selling these, in the future maybe, but NOT until Dan is happy, and also not until feedback on here is given... I dont agree with people overpricing carbon stuff, to me its just ridiculous, as an example ONE dashboard piece for my car (Jag xk8) in carbon laminate is something stupid like £500, well I can tell you now it never cost me 1/5 of that to do it myself, and that was including allowing for the hours taken to do it...

I asked on the Fabia section what a fair price would be for a full set as seen in the pics, and the concensus seemed to be between £80 and £100, which falls in with what I thought..

your comments are welcome, again this is in the early stages, i do NOT do this for a living, more a hobby, and will never rip anyone off... am happy to talk to anyone who wants something different doing, but I have limitations based on size and complexity...

all the best,

Tony

I love the look of that, and had almost given up trying to get some. I would be very interested in the finnished pics fitted and will be a buyer when you are happy with results and feedback.

Nice job, looks very good m8

That looks ace, fantastic work there. Look forward to seeing some pics of it on the car. :magnify:

Well, my first thought was that it actually looked like carbon, then I read on and discovered that it was!

This is how they should of come from Skoda, nice work

I'm saying that IME no-one but no-one makes a car with fake carbon trim that actually looks like carbon.

Hi guys, here's a pic of the trim re-fitted back into the car and must say they look great and the finish is superb,a big thankyou to Tony for his work and can highly recommend his work to anyone :D

Hi all, I'm going to do ANOTHER full set, as I know Dan had one fitment issue around the bottom controls which I want to get right... once this has been done and Dan test fits it I am happy to do these sets for others if anyone wants one...

hope this is OK, I dont want to just dive in without being certain the fit is perfect...

also, i think if the bit that holds Dans 2 guages is a seperate Piece this would look ace done in carbon also, what do people think?

all the best

Tony

Yeah, that gauge mount is a seperate piece; it's actually a cubbyhole and not a gauge mount in mine.

cheers Ken, if someone has a spare one I could have a go at then I'd be happy to see what it'd look like in carbon...

Tony

Looks good that...id have one

i want a set, could it be possible even if i live in france???

  • Author

living in france wouldnt be a problem, once i'm happy with these I will gladly do more sets for whoever wants them... I'll obviously need your original bits to cover though, unless I get a stock of them which I will try and do..

all the best
