Approved upgrade

Featured Replies

New to this, was walking past dealer yesterday and saw Black Magic, so now it's mine get it next Saturday. Anyway he said I could have a upgrade to around 180bhp thats factory approved. Has anyone had this done, it doesn't affect the warranty and costs

As in approved by the factory that produces the upgrade? Ask to see a copy of SkodaAuto's approval of the upgrade since without that there is no warranty cover for damage or defects arising from installation of the upgrade. If such approval exists, it will be news to Briskoda members.

Bickerton skoda (sheffield) also do approved re-maps,I've test driven a fabia vrs with it done,

They are Dealer approved, not factory.

If Skoda do factory approved upgrades for the UK, why are they getting tricky with the ECU's in the New Octavia?????

When I ordered my vRS the Brand Manager (?) told me he knew of firms, including some local to the dealer, who could easily chip the ECU to get 160BHP, but he said he couldn't condone it.

I assumed he meant the warranty would be invalidated.

I spoke with the dealer today. As far as he is aware, there are six VAG approved tuning stations in the UK. These are facilitys which have accreditation from VAG to carry out tuning with "approved parts". It's only the dealers word, you guys know more as I'm new to this.

This would be very interesting if it were true.

Unfortunately the dealer may be talking out of his neck. As we say around these parts :D

And welcome to Briskoda Black Magic. Whatever happens, I'm sure you'll enjoy your motor
