Featured Replies

Hi i am new to this forum, I am absolutely bewildered by a fabia sdi 2002 1.9sdi, I have no power steering, virtually all the dash lights are on, ie steering, airbag, oil light flashing and beeping. (engine sounds fine no knocks or rattles) I had a local garage look at it with a scanner and said there was a can bus problem but didnt have a clue what to do, its only got 50 k and is a really nice car but dont want to put in dealer to be told.... new ecu wiring etc dont trust them.... its immacualte under the bonnet might have been steam cleaned ... battey was dead flat whan i got it took a chance wish i hadnt... are there any connections to break and remake with that dielectric silicone or something HELP.... if i cant fix it may have to break shame its lovely...

I had something very similar happen to me on my old 2000 Fabia 1.416v - battery went flat while I was on holiday - recharged the battery, and was then left with no power steering and lots of warning lights, replaced the battery, dealer cleared fault codes for me, and I was away without any problem. I had a small current drain which led to the flat battery - was caused by a aftermarket headunit.

sounds like a trip to the dealers will sort it out then tezza. I havn't had many problems with them to be honest, but if you really don't want to go to a main dealer there are pleanty of independant Skoda specialists which charge a bit less with in many cases the same or better level of service!

There are lots of threads about battery condition and connections to the earth . Ill try to check the voltage put a spare battery in and make and break as many connections as i can before i send it somewhere. I recently had a problem with my octavias MAF made the connection with the maplins silicone and its ok, tip i got from here.

Ill let you know how i got on. Terry

Sounds like a battery related problem to me.

I'd double check when you switch the ignition on you get the battery light up on the dash.
