Weird problems...

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have been getting some weird problems with my octy.

1. The rear driver’s side door doesn’t always unlock with the rest.

2. Every now and then I get a hesitant in acceleration and then I get the EPC, traction control light pop up on the dash and the car goes in to “limp” mode. I turn the off engine leave it for 10-20 seconds turn it back on and car drives fine but traction control light still lights up. Turn engine of and on again and light goes off.

Took it to the Skoda garage in Aylesbury and they said there was loads of errors in the ECU but they cleared them and checked all the hoses\connection and everything was ok. But to be honest I think it’s because it’s under warranty and they can’t be arsed to fix it.

I’m going to be taking it to APS in Brackley but thought I would let you guys ponder over it, maybe suggestions on what it could be, I was told it was the lambada sensor and accelerator procession sensor causing the errors… yet they won’t fix it.

1) Probably the door loom for that door.

2) If a dealership's not prepared to investigate the fault properly, at least make sure they give you the fault codes! Without those, I think most of us will be guessing.

surely if it's under warranty you should be jumping up and down and shouting at them to fix it...?

Agreed, but with the codes we could at least say "it's probably this".

no error codes im afraid, :( i will scan in and show you what they put on the receipt. but my engine light has just lit up (acording to manual this is to do with the labarda sensor) so im taking it to garage and telling them to fix it or i start to break thumbs...

As last time they said that the errors were to do with the same sensor.

Well, if the car thinks the problem is the llambda sensor, then at least we can say it's probably mixture related, which suggests it might well be right, and if it's not then the next suspects are the MAF and the throttle pot! Yes in that order.

Throttle Port was also mention when i spoke to them last (although they called it Throttle Positioning Sensor) which explanes why it hesitates sometimes when im giving it the beans.

The terms are interchangable; Throttle pot comes from "throttle potentiometer", and reflects the fact that the device normally used to detect throttle position is a variable resistor.
