'Convenience' lowering of electric windows - Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi

Seceral times now, by putting my keys in jeans pockets, I have inadvertantly operated my windows while car was outside the house - at night. The last time it rained and a fair bit of water entered, wetting swithes etc! Question: can I turn off this facility (i.e. when holding down 'unlock' on the key fob, all windows open) ?

You might get more response if you posted in the Octavia 2 section

Moved.

If you have rain sensors, then you can enable the car to close when it rains. Not so skinny jeans might be helpfull too ;)

Funnily enough I was just going to post on the forum to ask the same thing! In the year that I have had the car, it has happened a couple of times to me but in the space of the last week, the windows have opened on me twice - the last being 15 minutes ago when I only discovered it by chance as I took my wheelie bin out for the collection in the morning. Fortunately on all occasions it hadn't rained but I'm more concerned about someone stealing from the car. I have rain sensors but no Maxidot so is there anyway to disable it or does it have to be done at the dealers via vag-com?

Cheers.

And to answer the original question, yes it can be turned off but you will need a dealer or someone with VCDS/Vag-com to do it for you.

Bluesman, if you have maxidot you can program open/close via remote on or off yourself (and plenty of other stuff too), otherwise it is a VCDS/Vag-com/dealer tool job.

.... if you have a MY07 onwards you can.....!

Just press the trip computer button on the end of the windscreen wiper stalk for 2 seconds and then using it as a rocker switch, scroll down to Setup and select it using the trip computer reset button on the underside of the wiper stalk. Select the Conv menu and you have the option of All, none or driver only. Select none and the job's a goodun. The water will no longer leak in through open windows - it will come in through the bulkhead instead!!! LOL

What else will be switched off if you turn off convenience mode though?
