Steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hey skoda people,

I notised today that when i dont touch the steering wheel it turns about 15 degrees to the left, from its correct straight position and the car starts to turn slightly left.

Any ideas to fix it? :)

You could check the tyre pressures, and correct if necessary. In fact, when you're looking at tyres anyway, look for any heavy edge wear patterns, or cases where you've maybe got an odd tyre on one corner, probably front left.

After that, if you've got edge wear and can't account for it from pressures, get a full alignment done.

Of course, whilst this seems like an extreme case, all UK market cars actually do this, since it's safer to run off the road onto the verge than into an oncoming vehicle!

Good basic checks recommended there, but the camber on a normally surfaced road will have this effect, anyway.

John, you're presuming that there actually is significant camber on the road surface, and that's increasingly uncommon these days IME.

What makes me think there's something not quite correct somewhere is Tolen's description of how far left the wheel pulls itself. That would suggest that (s)he should be driving along applying a slight but noticable RH loading to the steering to hold the car straight.

Went for gas today plus to check tyre preasure and bam. Left front weel had 25/30 and rear 23/30 while right front had 32/30. Easy fix and car goes dead straight. Thanks KenONeill:thumbup:

Also checked fuel consumption. I refilled 40litres and the clock was on 334km. However that was on city's heavy trafic almost all the time . I'm pretty pleased to be honest :)

That FE is even worst than mine did the calculations on it and i guet 5 more with regular 89 ROZ and 11 more with 91 ROZ

It works out at about 38mpg, which is good

It works out at about 38mpg, which is good

334(km) / 40(liters) = 8.35(km/L)

according to this;

Fuel consumption units converter/calculator - EcoModder.com

that's

11.98 L/100Km

23.59 mpg (imperial)

31.6 Km/g (US)

that's how i got it, and its 4 to 9 Km/g less than me (after the tune up, thanks guys by the way) my car takes 12 galons (US) or 45 liters so its the same tank as the favorit and i get 216km on the trip meter per 1/2 tank ( before that it was 2 gallons exact to measure the MPG on the fuel economy test) this is my first full refill

a red light here is time from 45sec, to 80 sec green light are timed from 15 sec to 25 sec... so you can imagien a pile of 2 and 3 lanes of up to (and i'm realy not kiddin) 20+ cars...

ofcourse i turn my engine off at times like this, but you could wait upto 2 min just to go foward 2 or 3 car.

i realy need to get myself a camera,
