wiring loom problem

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been lurkingg for about a year, and have decided to post my tale on here to get some feedback from my fellow skoda owners.

I bought my 2nd Skoda in April last year and upgraded from a brand new '53 plate A4 SDI, in which I put 4yrs + taxi miles, to a brand new out the bubble wrap A5 TDI. A much better car I was assured by all and sundry, and it was until a month ago. That's when the flywheel failed, at the princely sum of 30k miles. bad enough, but less than 3 days to replace. :) now 10 days later I am again car-less due to a break in the wiring loom, causing a misfire in one of the cylinders. A part that cannot be repaired, only replaced. Only thing is they are on back order.:o I won't know until tomorrow how long before I get back mobile.

So I was wondering if any of the good folk on here know if there is a problem getting this part or are my local dealer just being cautious?

Some parts are often on back order but they can come in surprisingly quickly. I'm assuming you are mobile in a loan car of some description.

Skoda tend to get parts deliveries every other day I think.

nope idle for now, totally skint and thankful that both probs are under warrenty. thanks for reassurance, hope you're right.

I once broke a wheel bearing on my last car, Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDI FR

It was at the dealer for a whole MONTH before I got it back.

However, I didn't mind that much, as I put 2,500 miles on the loan car instead of my own.

Did you ever have a sneaking suspicion that they might just have damaged the wiring loom whilst carrying out the flywheel repair?

Just a thought ;)

It's probably not a usual failure?

John.

you may have a point, john. the partner of another driver in my company, who uses newmarket for services, reckons that he was told that's exactly what happened. I'll ask him tomorrow what was said at the garage and post it here.
