Off To See A Fabia Vrs Monday

Featured Replies

Looks nice and tidy. 56 plate with 20k on the clock. :) Any ideas what I should look out for? I'm pretty clued up on cars, been messing around with them for years but is there anything specific I should look out for? Thanks!

Noisey DMF, clutch slip, console/wishbone bush noise, rear door seals (check the carpets ;))

Stuff like that lol

I'm sure some more folks will come up with more things

Take someone with Vagcom and give her a quick scan:)

Cheers guys, all the usual stuff then! I don't know anyone with vagcom, let alone having a monday morning off to come with me!

If its a "s"dealer your buying it from, ask for a full diagnostics report on the car as your interest depends on it.

If it a private, ask if you could get it VAG checked (it'll cost you but you'll have piece of mind)

Definitely go and visit the car after a decent rainfall (so anytime really ;) and check under the rear carpets for damp. There are a few other problems that have been mentioned, but I think this is the most common (and the only problem I have ever had with my '06 plate vRS).

Other than that, a great little car!

Its not the end of the world if the rear doors are leaking. Just need to pull off the door cards and whack in some sealant. Theres a guide floating around.

Excessive wear on the inside edge of the front tyres is a good sign the console bushes are naff (well they're naff from the off but thats not the point!). Check the rears too in case they've been swapped round to hide it...

Yeah, it's at a main dealer so I will be expecting a full report on her if the checks have been done. If they try to fob me off with anything, then I'll just have to mention the fact I work in a law court... :-)

Off to see it tomoz because of this stupid weather keeping me stuck in!

What does a noisy DMF sound like?

I'll add to the above----Does it drive and brake straight? & Does it accelerate smoothly through all the gears?

Mind you, being a Main Dealer car it should be perfect as it low mileage and no more than 3yrs. old. the Skoda 12 mth. warranty should take of any maladies

Well I went to see her and she wasn't great to be honest. Scratches over the body work, scuffed wheels, cheap repair on the rear seat, rear mats wet, under the bonnet pretty messy. All cosmetic stuff but she just didn't seem to have been looked after very well. (I'm quite fussy with looking after my cars.) Gave her the benefit of the doubt and took her out. She pulled well but found the steering too light and the cabin was just too small for me. So sorry guys, I'm still keeping my tolly. :dizzy:
