Door control module replacement?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. 7 months of ownership & the first couple of problems have cropped up on my 53 plate Octavia 1.9tdi PD elegance estate.

Firstly, a front wheel bearing has failed at just 38,500 miles:thumbdwn: (being fixed as I write this).

Secondly, based on what I've read on this forum so far, I think my drivers door control unit attached to the window motor has died. I removed the door card & had a look at the connector last weekend & it was full of water & partly corroded & the symptoms are, drivers door won't lock or unlock with remote or armrest mounted switch, red LED not functioning & the drivers mirror not functioning (heat or adjustment). I dried the connector & sprayed some electrical connector fluid into it but it hasn't cured it.

My question is, should I replace the control unit or try dismantling the unit & cleaning up the joint more thoroughly? Also, will a brand new control unit need reprogramming with VAG-com or does that just apply to the central convenience unit?

Any thoughts much appreciated.:)

If it had water in it, have you tried the relevant fuses now you've got rid of the water?

Hmm, I have similar problems with my car, electric drivers side mirror not working, when I first got the car, drivers side red flashing LED worked, for one day, and now nothing, no fuses are blown that I can see. What do you need to remove door card?

Thanks

Jon

To OP.. did you get anywhere with this... or still suffering, its just i have exactly the same issues...

*drivers door wont lock or unlock with keyfob

*drivers door wont lock or unlock with manual switch

*heated electrical mirror drivers side will not adjust or heat

*led does not light up at all

Just had door card off and noticed that the connector to led was not connected... here's me looking on brightside that this would solve it all... NAH still wont lock and unlock, and led still does not light up

cheers

Hi There

I have just replaced this unit on my 02 ctavia tdi bought secondhand from a breakers £25 plus vat, my symptoms were that the doors wouldn't unlock either with the remote or key but now everythings now ok and working fine.

I stripped the old unit but its easy to get things wrong when it goes back together again.

Regards Dave
